thanks easter_ferret (sorry, but i just feel embarrassed even typing that :p ).
i never even tried out the stock 80mm fans, although plenty of poeple say they are fine (and now you too). I had already decided on the mods before even buying the stuff, and in the end i'm just too lazy to build...
hi there
i don't think this has been mentioned before but for those in the UK you can get the w2207from Comet (RK282AA) for the regular £229 minus £30 with promo code HPTFT30, found here:

i don't think you can do better in the UK at the moment...
would it be bad of me to self promote again ??:D
here is the link to my old thread on v300 modification, if you are interested.

the v300 is a lovely case. larger than i expected, and perhaps underated because of that in these forums. my...
thanks c0ol
lazy man's guide to case modding recommends liberal use of double-sided tape !
- at each corner
- pre-coloured with a black marker pen.
there is also some black cardboard stuck between the fascia and 5.25" bays to hide the non-black aluminium.
thanks shaman.
The v300 is quite a bit bigger than some of the other SFF cases, so yes, it's a shame for Lian not to take advantage of this with some large fans - particularly 2 120mm fans at the front would be easy to implement with only a new aluminium insert.
For the HD temp, i can't...
thanks for the encouragement - have just put up a new thread on my mods;

Lian Li V300 mod to accept tall heatsinks (pics)
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1166703
I love the lian li v300 case, but thought i could improve upon its layout, airflow and noise. in particular, i wanted space to fit one of the taller cpu heatsinks.
parts:
lian li v300 (obviously)
E6300
foxconn G9657MA-8EKRS2H
2gb Geil ultra pc6400
geforce 8800gts
500gb WD se16

i have moved the psu across to the hard drive cage (single drive in a 5.25 bay) and fitted a 120mm fan in its place.
with this setup a zalman cpns 9500 fits nicely (with plenty of height to spare).
temps for a c2duo 6300 are 40 C idle (lowest fan settings), 46 c max (medium fan settings)...
I love the lian li v300 case, but thought i could improve upon its layout, airflow and noise.
my modifications summarized:
1/ replaced front fans with 12cm ones.
2/ hard disk cage mostly removed and single hard drive in 5.25 bay with cross-flow cooling.
3/ psu fitted where hard drive cage...
yes, ok, i think i get it.
this board does not lock the pci-e at standard speeds - they must be increased as the fsb increases. the problem with the board is that this must be done manually.
still, the board is advertised as an overclocker - evidenced by standard overclocking profiles in the...
there is a review of the foxconn board, although it is the non-raid, no firewire version.

looks like vdimm controls are good but pci-e lock is defective (like the asus board?) limiting overclocking....
for those in the UK, Eclipse Computers appear to have it in stock for a reasonable price.

it appears to be avery full featured board, including raid, and what i like - an optical spdif on the back panel.
i'm not ready to...
