My wife has been using her chromebook charger on her Samsung S21. The charger is 45 watts I think but I don't know if it is USB PD PPS and was wondering if using it could hurt the battery. The Chromebook was from 2021 and is a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 3 if that makes a difference. Thanks
I was worried about the bios. Probably only way to find out is to see what happens and can always switch back. Just a lot of messing around if it turns out not too. I think the i5 7400 had better H.265 quicksync support than the i3 6100 also that was making the upgrade look worth while.
The motherboard is listed as Odense2-K on HP website. They do not list the i3 6100 as a supported CPU only i3 7100, i5 7400, and i7 7700. The chipset is H170 and supports the i3 6100. I want to switch because my plex server has the i3 6100 in it and I think there would be a benifit to...
I'll probably just reinstall on this computer but I have another computer that I'd like to clone the SSD to a nvme that I'd expect that I'll have the same issue with. Would you have a product that you'd recommend that should be able to do this? I saw AOMEI backupper pro will do it but it is...
I was going to use it for storage. To be honest, I thought I unplugged the original drive when I installed on the nvme. I'll try to move the bootloader. Thanks for the help.
Good point, if I can see it, it must be compatible. I was wanting to avoid a reinstall but might be the best route to take. I double check the bios again but everything seemed to be ok but I couldn't select the Crucial NVMe as the boot device.
I picked up an HP AMD computer cheap for my kids that came with a HDD but has a M.2 slot. I picked up a Crucial P5 Gen3x4 NVMe ssd to upgrade it. I installed Windows 11 on it. I can boot from the drive it came with ,select the new drive during the process but if I remove the original drive I...
I need to repurposed the Asus Z170-E to be used as a Plex server. It has 6 SATA , 1 SATA Express, and 1 M.2 skt 3. The manual says 6 x SATA (2 from SATA Express) and that the M.2 shares SATA mode with SATA Express. I wanted to double check before buying a drive, but should I be able to connect...
Thanks, I'll give it another try and double check to make sure I have it set correctly. I'm moving from a i5 2500k to Ryzen 3 3200G and thought the age and switch from intel and AMD might have been asking to much.
My daughters computer needs an upgrade. I tried to move the ssd to a newer computer but couldn't get it to boot. I'm guessing the hardware is to different for Windows 10 to deal with. I'd normally have just done a clean install but she has some apps/games that no longer appear to be available...
I'm looking for a cheap way to expand my Plex server and found this pretty cheap. It is an older model but would there be a reason this would be a bad choice for my use case? I'm using Stable bit drive pool and anything critical is backed up elsewhere also. Cost is around $60 but don't want...
Thanks for the help. I'll pick up one of the TP Link APs to start with but will also try a wired connection. I already have a USB to ethernet adapter. If it works enough better than the AP, I'll get a few more.
My router is a NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk and is located in the basement. With 3 kids going to school online on the 2nd floor the signal is getting a little weak. I have wired runs to each room on the 2nd floor but their chromebooks are wireless only. I'm assuming that my best option would be to...
Ended up being the power supply. Each HDD checked out on another computer. I was almost hoping it was a HDD issue since changing the power supply is a pain vs dropping in a new HDD and I had back ups of everything.
