    Video Card for Starcraft

the expansion makes it run @ 800x600 I believe but the point still stands. The game is incredible though. I've ran it on hardware as lowly as a P100 with 64 MiB of ram but the experience was 'iffy' to say the least. I remember my friend trying to run total annihlation on a 486 DX-2, he still...

    nyquist theorm and sampling ?

Your ears effective hearing range is ~22KHz, useful 16KHz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist_sampling_theorem The sampling rate of a CD takes into account this fact and MP3s take into account that most of the data above 16K is nonessential. The unpopularity of DVD-A speaks for...

    Microphone

I got a $27 us mic from amazon, it has pretty good voice clarity but takes those small lithium watch batteries, they've lasted a few weeks so far but I have a feeling it will get annoying.

    Bf2 What..

I hold a special place in my heart for grenade spammers and ridiculous jet pilots It is easy enough to bomb and strafe ground targets (too easy in fact, the little box they put around vehicles in bomb mode is practically a maphax) but I never have any luck killing other pilots...

    I broke my opty 165 (now i'm on to a x2 4800

Gary Headlee is MIA atm, had some personal issues, from what I hear his work is top notch though. Unlikely you'll be able to get ahold of him it seems.

    ThinkPad really worth it?

I've got an x40, it gets the job done with battery life to spare :) A bit on the expensive side for their specifications but the portability more than makes up for it. Plus there is something really appealing about the spartan chassis and IBM logo. It just looks built for computation rather...

    *** DFI Voltage Guide ***

My ultra-D is spot on for vcore with a DMM as well. The bios reading means jack.

Okay So No Records Broken,,But Fer A First Timer,,Da XTX OCed

ATi tool reads the 2d voltages and clocks off the card, which are not the correct 3d voltage/clocks. The card is clocked 650/775 stock and the VGPU voltage is 1.4v Some people have had success with less voltage at the stock clockspeed, but ymmv.

Connected the sata power And molex power cord, what's gonna happen?

It is impossible for any of us to say whether or not there was any damage to the drive but since a system is so seemingly trivial to engineer which does not exhibit these undesirable properties I highly doubt it. If the drive still works it is fine. The power circuitry probably looks...

Connected the sata power And molex power cord, what's gonna happen?

I imagine it is fine, the drive isn't going to 'get too much power' because it has an extra connector hooked up, it doesn't even make sense. power connectors simply provide a current source. If you have 2 connectors hooked up to a circuit both with a 12 (5?) volt potential difference you will...

Going back to CRT, which is better? IBM P275 or Dell P1130?

It is really a case by case basis with CRTs, some will have really bad convergence problems or the white temperature will be way off etc. It's best to look at them on a case by case basis although I think the P275 has a better tube in it. I wouldn't put much stock in the fact it has DVI inputs...

BF2 Graphical issue w/ nvidia and ati cards

there are so many rendering bugs with this game it is not even funny. Most of them, as far as I can tell affect both platforms to an equal degree, with the exception of horrendous ati shadows. * texture popping in the distance (windows on buildings are easiest to notice this on) * white...

    The Crappiest Hardware of 2006

The humour was pretty bad, almost as bad as the products 'reviewed'. Nice attempt though, there is always 2007.

Anyone agree that HDR is overhyped garbage?

Real time lighting is incredibly primitive, even with the inclusion of HDR, compared to reality. Calling it high dynamic range is like calling the blow up doll 'realistic' after being intimately acquainted with a hand. Display technology isn't even capable of reproducing a realistic image in...

Should I try and fix this?

You should just solder the cap back on. If it is those metal ones with a purple marking on the top here is the idea. take a couple of IDE ribbon cable conductors and solder them to the pads that the capacitor came off of, then solder the free leads to the capacitor and conformally coat them...
