this may sound stupid but i guess im not following the actual steps your using.. i tried it the way you said and i get a .mkv file but it doesnt actually play, you can fast forward to parts and see the picture but it doesnt actually play..

ive tried to convert several different HDDVD movies probably 6 times now and no matter what i cant get the audio to be in sync with the video.. Its driving me fricken crazy.. The movie will start but the audio is like 10seconds behind the video.

I was wondering the same thing, i was curious whether i should buy 2 7900gtx's for this high res..
the only bench ive ran so far is the HL2 Lost Coast Demo --> 2560x1600 0aa & 8af -- 98fps

i cant get mine to run the native res of 2560x1600, it says in my control panel that my monitors max res is 1280x800 which im assuming means its not using the dual link dvi.. I have 2x7800gtx's in SLI so it supports it.. Do you have to enable Dual Link DVI somehow??
