Building an Array with 4TB Drives..

Just a follow-up on this.. Has anyone tried using 4TB drives on the RocketRAID 4320 yet? No 4TB drives are on their HCL, but they claim it "should work". Looking for real-world feedback here before going out and picking some up! Thanks!

Deceptive Product Photos of WD's new 2TB My Passport Ultra drive

Agreed. However, this isnt a simple matter of distortion. The overall design and proportions of the drive is different. This is a photo of how all the other drives in their "Ultra" line appear, featuring a a slimmer form factor, and one of the key differentiating factors between this line and...

Building an Array with 4TB Drives..

I currently have a RocketRAID 4320 with Hitachi 2 TB drives (5k3000s and 7K2000s). Alas, I am running out of space, and would like to upgrade to 4TB drives. Question to RocketRAID 4320 owners: Has anyone tried using 4TB drives on this controller? And if so, which ones have you tried and did...

    Hitachi 2TB Harddrive Owner's Thread

Question for RocketRaid 4320 owners: Have any of you tried using a 2TB 7k3000? Is it compatible? As some of you may know, Hitachi is shipping 7k3000s in their 7k2000 boxes now, but I already have an array of 7k2000s on my RR4320 that I want to add on to. Can I add these 7k3000s to my existing...

Mix Hitachi 7K2000 and 5K3000 in same array?

Awesome - this is great to hear. One of the drives in my array of 7K2000s just reported a few bad sectors, so I have a feeling I may have to replace them soon and I was hoping to do so with the newer 5K3000s. Now I can pick up a few replacements without hesitation.. As a side note: All of my...

Mix Hitachi 7K2000 and 5K3000 in same array?

SiRCYRO, Actually I haven't mixed them yet! I ended up replacing all of my WD20EADS's with 5k3000s (which are working well so far), but I haven't yet added to my 7k2000 array. I do have one standing by as a spare, and I'm starting to get a bit low on space, so I'll probably need to soon...

Is there a reliable 2TB drive for RAID use?

Reliability update: After only 2 weeks of operation, yet another 5K3000 I received from NewEgg has started to die and will be sent back. That makes 3 bad drives out of 5 drives from NewEgg (1 DOA, 2 with bad sectors). All 5 from Amazon have been issue-free.

    Hitachi 2TB Harddrive Owner's Thread

Unable to wait for Hitachi's support to get back to me regarding the confusingly named "ML0NR580" firmware update they sent me, I went ahead and updated my 5k3000 w/ML6OA180 using the ML0NR580 firmware with hopes that they were compatible and would not explode. The result upon upgrade -...

    Hitachi 2TB Harddrive Owner's Thread

So I heard back from Hitachi Support regarding the upgraded firmware for my 5k3000 drives with the ML60A180 firmware, and they sent me the ML0NR580 firmware as an upgrade. Its still unclear how ML0NR580 relates to ML60A580 (which exists on my other 5k3000 drives), but I've asked Adrian to...

    Hitachi 2TB Harddrive Owner's Thread

So I was finally able to get the Hi Test utility working on a 32-bit Vista installation I had kicking around on an old laptop hard drive that I threw into a spare desktop. It didnt seem to work on any 64-bit installs of either Vista, Win 7, or Server 2003.. However, I just realized that I dont...

Update - only 9 drives left. Note: To encourage orders of > 1 drive, I'll give you a deal on multiple quantities! Also, I've had a few folks ask me about heat rating. I've done quite a bit of selling on local Craigslists over the years, but this is the first time I've sold anything on a...
