Getting the pre-release demo to start had a few quirks for me too. For once, after downloading the content files it never unlocked them even after the game officially went live. I restarted steam and then it said it was "decrypting game files". Then I restarted again and it said it was updating...
Probaly the new catalyst 9.11 drivers for the 5870. I have a 5770 and am stuck with 9.10 and the game absolutely flies on my PII X3 @ 1650x1050 res. Try downgrading.
Yea I've heard of this, among many other theoretical propulsion methods. Thing is, with the amount of propellant needed to get to mars and back, and using a proven method that dates back decades (controlled nuclear power), a nuclear rocket really is the only realistic way we're getting to mars...
Only thing that bugs me is that this will almost certainly be a waste. Not one single scientific body in all of NASA or the world at large see's the Ares program ever being completed. This demonstration was just a glorious display of wishful thinking, but the budgetary money is simply not there...
This is what really seals the deal TBH. You can get away with a super cheap mobo/ram budget build and still be able to overclock the hizzy out of this thing. Just go to the multiplier setting and "vroomp!" ramp it up. Everything else gets to function at their intended clock rates, which is about...
Hmm, I thought stock clock was 2.9ghz, not 2.7. Oh well I just bought a PII X3 for $120 with free shipping + combo. All benchmarks thus far show the Athlon X3 neck and neck in performance so I cant be thrilled about my $40 premium... until I get around to overclocking. I've always had such...

When running Vista/W7, does anybody know if windows really cares whether you install a program to the x86 or non x86 folders? I understand that when an application is detected as a 32bit app...
Yea, I only ended up with these after deciding to look for video+PSU combo's. The combo put the PSU around the same cost as my original Corsair 400W, so i basically might as well buy it. Plus all reviews show a PII system with a 5770 draw around 280W at load, and my case has 3 fans and some...
Leave it to shiro to find everything I miss. Dont see how I missed the g.skill 1600 ram, I sort them all by free shipping/lowest price!
Anyway, I hit the "checkout" button about an hour ago, /wrists. Even got the combo+promo code bonus for the antec PSU! Total system cost $470 or so shipped...
