Who cares about the new features of Leopard, I wanna see the new hardware designs! I just bought a new 24", and I simply cannot wait until the new iMacs are out so I can scream "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" and sob for days. :D
I was wondering about this screen. I've noticed that if I have a pure white page spanning the entire screen real estate (say, a maximized safari window), I've notice that the right side seems cooler than the left. I don't think it's my eyes messing with my head, or from another light source...
The computer arrived at my office's warehouse today. I picked it up and now I'm running on this beautiful beast of a machine.
Remember how I was asking about the free upgrades? The original 24" had the basic everything in it, but the unit I received has a 500GB HDD the upgraded 256MB...
I'm not presently enrolled, so I didn't get any educational discount on anything, even the APP.
How often does Apple "mess up" and have freebie upgrades on refurbished stuff? I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl right now!
Like the title says, I just couldn't wait any longer until Leopard comes out and the hardware is updated. So today, when my loan got approved and the funds were transferred to my account, I splurged at the Apple Online Store.
I purchased the following:
Refurbished 24" iMac 2.16 Ghz, 1GB RAM...
My question is essentially the title: will the new AEBS experience slowdown/latency/speed degredation if I'm streaming sound to my speakers through the AE?
I don't know how good the sound is out of the 24" iMac, but if it's not up to par, I'd like to get/supplement it with external speakers...
You gurus are much smarter than I am at the latest and greatest displays, so I beg of you all to throw me a bone here. I'm set on purchasing a new mac, and was eying the 24" iMac. It's big, but not too big, the finish on the screen is nice (I hate shiney screens), and it's all self-contained...
Here's a link to Dr. Vijay Pande's lecture at Xerox PARC about folding.
He mentions F@H on GPUs around 35:00 into it, and says later on that they have it working, but are dead even with CPUs. Great update on the future of F@H and distributed computing in general.
Also of GREAT note is...

I was kicked out of the student computing site on campus because I fell out of my chair laughing and knocked down some poor girl.
Thank you so very much. :p :D :D
I bought a "Platinum" XBOX from modchipstore.com and despite a Platinum picture and other misleading words, the "Platinum" is just a moniker for modded. It is a standard black XBOX with an 120gb HDD, and I believe a Xenium ICE modchip, and Evolution-X installed (and their horribly crappy "custom...
