Thanks WiSK, I'll have to measure mine up but I seem to remember it being about 12". Guess I'll have to look into getting a new card, which isn't the worst thing in the world. I'm sure a new one would be faster.
Wow, it fits with like a millimeter to spare! If a 450w will run that, I've seriously been buying way more wattage than I need for years it seems!
Just for reference, how long is that card? I currently have a 5870 I plan on re-using and have my fingers crossed that it's shorter and would fit...
I took a look at the TJ08-E and it looks cool but is still almost as big as a ATX Mid size. While the Antec is a bit smaller, it would need some modding and painting to look good!
It still seems like small + gaming just doesn't happen and I should just transfer my current rig into a mid tower...
HaX, I had intended to put mITX but put uATX instead >.< The only one I saw that looked like I could shove a real graphics card in it was the BitFenix Prodigy which is huge with those handles.
Jamai, I'll check those out. Thanks for the suggestions!
So I've been using Full Tower ATX cases for about a decade now and I think it's time to downsize since I don't run custom water loops or more than one graphics card or anything crazy these days.
Now I took a look at cases on newegg in the uATX and mATX flavors and everything I saw that looked...
Ok, so I have a P5E that has been running in AHCI mode since I got the thing.
I put a 1tb drive (WD Black) in yesterday that had Win7 on it from another computer and was running some testing with it last night. Today I decided to reinstall Win7 and it got through the part before the first...
Well if you do a lot of video editing or hardcore photoshop... Think of it this way 3Ghz x 4 = 12Ghz / 2.8Ghz x 6 = 16.8Ghz. So in things that scale well, you have about 4.8Ghz more of CPU power as well as any other refinements they added. And Turbo Boost will boost the things that use 3 or...
Ah, well I guess no unlocking then since it'll be one of the new boards with the SB850. But I think an overclocked tri core should be fine for what he's doing.
Thanks for the info on that.
Thanks for the replies guys.
That's exactly what I thought myself :D
As for the x6, well the budget keeps it at around $100 so their a bit out of the price range. And for the maybe 20 minutes of fraps video he does anything with I think it would be a bit overkill as well.
And...
Hey all,
I'm helping a friend who wants to know nothing about hardware build a computer for playing MMO's and single player RPG's. Now I'm a bit out of the loop myself since I'm still happy with my system and haven't been keeping an eye on what's going on.
But I figure for a best bang for...
I think it would hit the hard drive cage in a standard SG01. Though the length seems to be 9.5" so that's a bit shorter than a mATX mobo. So the main problem would be the power connectors might hit the hard drive cage. If the connectors pointed up like a GTX260 it should be no problem but...
Correct as far as I know. Since the AM2/AM2+ cpu's only have a DDR2 controller and AM3 boards only have DDR3 slots. And you caught my post right before I looked at the Zotac site and saw they say the board supports AM3 cpu's.
But if he wants a dedicated video card that's still an issue as...
