Hmm, you must have had one of the first batches of Apogee GTs. According to the Apogee tweaking guide http://www.swiftnets.com/products/apogee-tweaking.asp, some early shipments left out the bigger o-ring, but Swiftech will send you one for free. It might be worth trying it, just to see if it...
I see you are using an Apogee GT. Which O-ring are you using? The fatter o-ring bows the base, which might be causing the problem of all the TIM being pushed to the sides. Also, do be careful about overtightening the GT, as there have been instances of people destroying the base of the block...
An even better idea is to have it execute this little freeware program called "SuperFast Shutdown" (http://www.xp-smoker.com/freeware.html). It will power off the PC virtually instantly.
Thanks zipdrive, thats exactly what I was hoping for. 28 1/4 inches = 717 mm including the feet, so without them I should just make it. Thanks again for your help, and I'll get on and order this thing!
Good idea!
Unfortunately the desk is just one of those cheepo Ikea ones, not a nice hardwood one, but I am sure I could get 1cm out of some sort of pad or feet. Maybe even really small casters would do the trick, if I can find them narrow enough. Of course, I would love to be able to save...
I am building a new machine and I desperately want a MozartTx, but I have a slight concern with the height. The only place I have for it is under my desk, which is exactly 710mm off the ground. According to the MozartTx specs, the height of the case is 720mm.
Now here is the question - the...
It doesnt really matter. The term "hardware whitepoint" is simply a description of the current whitepoint of the monitor. It does not change anything on the display. What it does instead is make a point of reference for the "adjusted whitepoint", so it knows what amount of correction to make...
Just as a warning, be VERY careful in that menu, especially the "reset defaults" choice that is within the factory menu. I accidentally hit that, and it reset all the default color presets to numbers that were NOT what it came like when I got the monitor.
Luckily, I had written down the...
Sounds like you have a defective panel there boss. The black levels on mine are incredibly black (far and away the darkest of any LCD I have ever used), and darker than my very good quality CRT sitting right next to it in all lighting conditions other than when the lights are completely off...
I can't say that I have had any eyestrain at all with it. In fact, I find it much more comfortable to view that any other monitor i've owned. The only thing I can think of is maybe the native resolution is too small for your eyes...
The listed "hardware whitepoint" is the whitepoint as listed in the profile you are using, unless you you use the measurement tool which is pretty innaccurate. It probably lists the whitepoint as 5000K because you are using the wrong profile.
In terms of the changes you see, this is where it...
As I said, I used Adobe Gamma, which is a software gamma calibrator that works by creating an ICC profile for the monitor. It is a purely visual method of calibration, but is can be reasonably accurate with the right test patterns. It doesnt give me numbers to use as such, but it only took my...
As of yet I have not noticed any of these problems. The desktop settings seem to revert back just fine after gaming (are you saving the settings with a name? Maybe thats the difference). That said though I have only used the ATI "color" settings for a day or so, and I don't plan on using the...
My point is that on mine, with adjustment the blue is just as blue as it was on the 2001FP. I know this (even without having the 2001FP to hand), because I adjusted the 2001FP to match my calibrated CRT, and now the 2405FPW is calibrated to match the CRT. I _could_ also make the blue on the...
Ok, here is my review after spending about 4 days with the screen.
Background info: I currently have a Mitsubishi DP 930sb CRT tube. I am running the 2405FPW in a dual monitor configuration with the CRT. This is the 4th LCD monitor I have purchased in the last 2 months in the quest for the...
I use a Monaco Optix with Ezcolor, but that does a lot more than just monitor calibration and costs about $350. If the only thing necessary is monitor calibration, maybe something cheaper like the colorvision color plus for $99 would be better...
I confused as to what some are talking about regarding "washed out" color. The color on mine is anything other than washed out. In fact, it is far more vibrant than either the 2001FP or the SDM-p234 that i got and returned. It looked very good right out of the box.
However, it definately...
Dammit...I ordered over the phone for $1149+tax with a ship date of March 7. When I saw the web price, I sent an e-mail asking if the price on the order would be updated. They updated it, but then changed my ship date to March 28th! Crap.
Yep, definately when compared to $1500+ for the 23" S-IPS panels. Then you factor in the basically "free trial" return policy, and we have a winner :D .
That assumes that a technological improvement has not been made in the PVA technology reducing the small state change response times. This seems to be the first PVA that advertises improved gray-to-gray. Also, Samsung has been discussing for some time technologies to improve the low-end...
I didn't think that dot pitch on an LCD monitor has any relationship to the space between the pixels. AFAIK, dot pitch on an LCD is simply the number of millimeters per pixel.
For example, the 2001fp has a dot pitch of .255 because it has 1600 pixels across and is exactly 408.0 mm wide...
Not to be nitpicky, but since that 4" of extra space is diagonal, the total screen size of the 24" is actually 43% bigger than the 20" widescreen (117408 v. 167961 square millimeters).
Also, the retail price of the of 2005fpw isnt $500, its $749. Sure you can get that down to $500 with...
Dont forget though that you can run 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 unstreched in the middle of the screen (ie, with black bars on the side), and the size of the image in the middle will still be the size of a 21 inch monitor.
The difference is that the 2405FPW is based on a Samsung PVA panel, while the 2005 is a S-IPS lg.philips panel. Think of the 2405FPW as basically a Samsung 243T version 2.0.
That said, I think there are a few reasons to be hopeful about the gaming performance of the 2405. Mainly, the...
FWIW, if you run the 24" screen in a non-stretched 1600x1200 box in the middle with black bars on the sides, it is still 1" bigger than a 20.1 monitor, and is the identical size to the 213t. Same principle with 1680x1050. So, you could do 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 non-interpolated for games and...
Actually, according to the specifications, the T221 appears to have 4 DVI inputs :0
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/intellistation/t221/features_specs.html
"Signal cable (provided): 2-1.8m; each cable configured with 2 DVI-D connectors (4 DVI total); 9503-DG5 includes separate dual-link DVI...
I think you are misunderstanding that image. I believe unearth's photo was taken from an extreme downward angle simply to demonstrate the slight appearance of curvature "behind" the glass. My DP930sb looks exactly like that too from that extreme downward angle, but is 100% straight when looking...
It was a really weird problem that I have never seen before. When my eyes would move quickly from one side of the screen to the other, or when there was anything fast moving on the screen, I would see a diagononal 45 degree angle cross hatch pattern over the screen. It was particularly bad on...
PVA and S-IPS are two different underlying technologies behind LCD panels. There are tons of differences between the two. I recommend reading the xbit labs article that is stickied at the beginning of the forum. The link is:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/lcd-guide.html...
This is very subjective. Generally the 2001fp is very highly regarded for gaming.
Personally I saw very little ghosting on the 2001fp. But I returned it because it had a crosshatch effect which drove me nuts but my wife could not see at all. I also had a Samsung 213T, which some reviews...
