Thanks UnknownSouljer. What you say is true, I'm just trying to justify going one way or the other. To be honest, I could make either work. I'm just trying to narrow down the potential post purchase regrets that are difficult to anticipate. Like the Mac Pro is pretty bad ass, but not sure I'd...
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I actually do already have a Mid 2012 Mac Book Pro (13) with a 250 GB SSD (Samsung Evo 840) which I use when on the go. However, it doesn't pack the punch of the rMBP which would come in handy for longer trips.
So I'd be geared up a with a solid home solution...
Hi guys
Needing to decide between the currently available Mac Pro, or 15" MBP Retina.
Budget not an issue, but have it narrowed down to these 2.
Mac Pro
Quad-Core and Dual GPU
3.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
12GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
Dual AMD FirePro D300
with 2GB GDDR5...
Thanks Dcode, I think IPS glow is pretty much inevitable when pursuing the currently available panels in this range.
I found the display on sale for 240 EUR, so might give it a try this weekend to see how it fares against the P2414H.
Did you end up calibrating it?
I too am a CS player, so...
hey lasty, what did you end up going with?
I too am in the Netherlands and was considering the EV2336 - did you get it from Azerty?
I decided on the P2414H but it has some significant back light bleed and gamma issues.
Thinking about returning it for the EV2336, but perhaps I should just try...
I have this issue as well on m Thinkpad T440p..
What's the rest of your setup?
I'm having issues using mDP -> DVI (Apple adapter) in Windows 8.1 Pro; using the Intel HD4600 to output.. which might be the issue as well.
Also tried mDP -> HDMI adapter and cable, which doesn't have issues...
hi guys, anyone find any work arounds to this issue?
is there a similar utility to screenwhite that can be set via the OS?
like the monitor (23ea63v) but this is so annoying :(
lastly - has anyone tested color profiling when using DVI vs HDMI?
thanks
Hey guys, I just got a brand new intellimouse explorer 3.0 and the bigger side (thumb) button is incredibly unresponsive. It pushes in but does not 'click' and the actual registration in windows varies.
i've read reviews and this seems to be a common problem. One reviewer posted he took the...
another update:
I replaced the RAM with some old corsair pc3000 I had. Same beeps.
So I pulled the videocard, then turned it on. SILENCE. I then got excited and threw in an old PCI videocard. Either it doesn't work or my mobo didn't like it because there was no post, silence again...
hmm well, I do have memtest86+ ( i think i mentioned this in previous post ).
I wasn't testing memory via sandra, all I was saying is that I noticed the crash after I ran the bench.
When my computer did boot, I ran memtest86 with no errors. So yeah I've been stuck
i honestly think I did some damage with that ddr booster, either the ram or the CPU. But seeing as both sticks (individually) result in these beeps, my guess is the cpu :(
unless both sticks are fried...
I appreciate your response. I just noticed it now, thought everyone gave up on me :)
Anyway, since I just saw it now, I haven't been able to try your suggested steps, however I did something similar last night.
I went and bought a can of compressed air and removed EVERYTHING (except hdd...
haha no no no.
it is BEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP ...
I am at work so I will check it when I get home, but I have read on the internet that with award bios that means RAM or video error.
So it could be my:
-ram went bad from too many volts
-ram SLOTS on mobo went...
alright will do. I read that continuous long beeps = mem or vid error
one thing I forgot to mention was that one of the times it (semi) posted all I got was a blank screen that read something like:
R430 BIOS
X800XL
or something like that..
I did when I could get into windows, unfortunately, my computer has turned YET AGAIN, for the worse.
I read the bar graphs, and there was one (the first) bar that showed a massive slow down. It wasnt labeled though.. so I was confused. The others showed drivers, etc. But the BIG one was...
So I when I was still away at college, in my hot dorm room, near the end of the semester I was experiencing some lock-up issues.
First the system would freeze (freeze or bsod). So I would reboot, IF I could get it to boot, it would freeze in the bios, almost instantly. Otherwise, It would...
Ok, I'll try this. But when my computer is beeping like crazy, and I do finally get it to start, the bios has been reset. Even then, I will still lock-up in the bios.
When I get home I will try swapping out the stick in dimm1 with the other one.
You don't think it is a CPU issue...
i think it is :(
when I was still in school, my computer, on occasion would go on the fritz. windows would crash, then I couldnt even boot or the bios would freeze. I would get continuous BEEEEEPS.
So I would re-seat the cpu and memory and things, and then it would be fine.. for like a...
I've had my as5 or as5 knockoff thermal paste on for about a year now. I am suddenly getting system crashes, and my system will freeze in the BIOS.
sometimes I get a BEEEEEP BEEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEP ....over and over.
I look at the thermal paste and it is all dry and nasty...
thanks for the replies.
I tried installing windows via my OLD windows installation cd, the original one. The result was the same.
Also, I have tried installs/reformatting both with/without an overclock.
It's weird, shutdown time is fine, its just the start-up. [- - - -] goes FORRREVVERRR
Please help,
This is driving me crazy!!!!!! I have tried a million things tonight, re-seating all hardware, changing sata cables, running hdd diagnostics (from hitachi), deleting the boot record, re-installing windows A BAZILLION times. No luck, at all
One thing I did do differently this...
Just wondering..
I have a venice 3200+ on a chaintech vnf4 ultra with the ddr booster. I'm running my system 1:1 at 270mhz.
So cpu 2.7ghz and memory 540 mhz.
timings = 2.5 4 4 8, 1t

Anyway, right now my...
thanks for all the replies.
I really cant see it being any of them though since my computer was not doing this yesterday before I reformatted. Nothing new was installed, the bios settings are the same, it was a simple reformat.
I have a soundblaster audigy2, the onboard sound is disabled...
Well I decided to reformat for the summer.
I use a slip-streamed version of windows xp w/ sp2. I have never had such a slow boot-up time before. The bar fills up like 30 times before windows finally loads. I've reinstalled multiple times, OC'd and non OC'd and nothing seems to work. Also...
