The following are from the new Dell catalogue:
The noticable changes are the new stand, introduced with the 3007WFP, is now used for the whole line apparently. Also the 2405WFP, successor to the 2405FPW, has received a resolution DOWNGRADE, down to WSXGA+ from WUXGA.
That manual is very confusing, I think. The only difference explicitly stated between the 243T and 244T on the manual was their different stands. But if I recall correctly, the 243T had been released for a while and many of the 244T features are missing from the 243T, most noticably USB hub...
Just checked Monarch's site and they took off all the OEM X2's, so all that's left are those retail X2's due to ship July 6th. What happened, did they run out already? Or does AMD want to clear out retail before OEM?
If you run into codec problems or problems with codec packs there is a neat program called Filter Manager that allows you to see all the registered codecs and unregister them without going into command-line mode.

The 1080p ATSC defined is not the 1080p 60fps that is usually referred to. ATSC's 1080p is much more like 1080i transmitted in a non-interlaced manner, with two fields combined into one to make 30fps.
A quick question, does an Audigy2 drive bay work with an Audigy2ZS card? Are they identical? Or for that matter, are they also identical to the Audigy(1) bay, or even the SB Live! bay?
And I was just proving a point about budget. The guys afterwards made their point that computers can benefit from traditional audio gear rather than just computer audio systems. We've all made our points. Moving on...
If you want the "best" 2.1, why not just forget about the subwoofer and get two full-range stereo speakers? Something like the B&W Nautilus would work, but be sure to pick up six monoblock amplifiers and a pre-amp level crossover network to work with them.
Hmmm....I am beginning to see why...
Sony wrestled the VHS from the arms of the movie industry. Hopefully MS could save the DVR from the cable giants. It's the lesser of two evils, I guess. When content providers are pitted against software/hardware makers, the consumers should side with the software/hardware guys.
What, did Bill Gates just post here?
LOL...anyway, my question is, what is Bill talking about here? As far as I know, there are no consumer-grade products that can take the analog input of a HD signal, so there is no way that we can set up a MCE system to take in an analog HD signal and do an...
Hmmm...time to reassess this with the two new dramatic developments.
How long until we have a cable-card ready QAM/VST/NTSC tuner supported by MCE? With cable card support for MCE, would MS somehow solve the problem of having to have two cards in order to get HD to work?
How did Sony develop 1080p if it was an ATSC standard?
BTW Sharp has been selling 40 and 46inch 1080p LCD TVs for a while now. The new sets are 3rd gen DLP-chip based sets which, with some luck, will be a lot cheaper than Sharp's offerings.
Okay, this last question is a little obscure and probably can't be answered, but I'll try anyway. (I tried google to no avail) My cable company supplies a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200, and apparently is has a USB port. Could I possibly use some software to control it that way instead of...
I was referring to those cards that support 256-QAM, which would capture cable HD signals. I wonder if BF will affect those.
About SageTV and Java, does the entire program run on Java Bytecode, or does it only use Java for part of its functionality, but the program core still run on native...
About BF...does it apply only to OTA HD broadcast, or would digital cable channels also be affected? Is it something the FCC set aside for 8-VSB, or will it apply to QAM-256 as well? What are the chances that current HD PCI tuners will simply ignore the broadcast flag and record HD programs...
Thanks for the explainations. I didn't think the dvr-ms (I think that's what it is called) recording format was that big of a issue either. (BTW I thought it was the WMV9 implementation of the MPEG-4 codec wrapped in DRM?) But as I started considering alternatives to MCE, I thought why bother...
A little while ago I was considering MCE as the main software in my future HTPC. But recently I've changed my mind, my main concern being the proprietary recording format. I have two questions: does any other TV software, such as SageTV, BeyondTV, or MediaPortal, support HDTV reception, and if...
It's a South Korean company, and we all know how many cool South Korean technology never gets introduced to North America or Europe...
Is this the only case that you know of that has a build in TFT panel?
Your solution sounds like the best one. If the whole thing is analog, there should be no lag at all, both from the VHS and from the camcoder. In our cable tv studio we would just get two cameras, one fixed on the speaker and one fixed on the projection screen, and use the control board to switch...
For the backup to VCR option, we can assume that TiVo will use analog outputs for that. I am not sure how advanced TiVo is, but most likely the outputs will either be S-Video or Composite video. In this case there is no way to record the high definition programming while maintaining their high...
I just want to say that I ordered that $385 BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC PCIe. It's too good a deal to pass up, and if worst comes to worst, I'll just report it to my credit card company and have them deal with it. But this reseller does have good reviews and I think I know how they could have this...
That does sound promising. I was almost disillusioned after hearing news that the cablecard slot was mysteriously removed from the Shuttle Sonoma-based Media Center XPC. But perhaps there is still hope. If I remember correctly, CableCard, first gen, doesn't support HD, but second gen (the one...
What about ATI TV Wonder Elite or other Theater 550 based tuners? From a review I read it seems they offer better picture quality than even Hauppauge's best.
I was really hoping for a card that could tune SD digital channels as well as HD digital channels but since the SD channels are encrypted, then I guess I am out of luck. What about the HD channels, are they unencrypted and free to everyone with a QAM tuner...even to those who do not subscribe to...
I find it strange that the 2.2GHz, 1MB cache per core DC has a PR number that is 200 lower than the 2.4GHz, 512KB cache per core DC (4400+ vs 4600+). By AMD tradition, these two should perform close to each other and should have a PR number within 100 of each other (like the Venice 3800+ and San...
Thanks for the links. According to the second link, with some luck those local HD channels over cable will be unencrypted QAM, which I can tune with a QAM-capable HD card, and skip the cable box altogether. But what about non-HD digital channels, I wonder. The first link suggests...
My cable company (Cablevision) provides additional digital channels, as well as HD versions of several channels, through the use of a cable box (HD channels require special receiver). I want to build a HTPC around MCE, but I don't want to lose those additional digital channels, and it would also...
A multimeter would come in handy when you are soldering those components onto the mainboard and you want to check the resistance, the amount of voltage going through, &c.
Oh wait a minute...
