I'm also picking up one of the two-tiered models on Thursday of this week. Consider yourself lucky. My drive to pick it up is three and a half hours (Atlanta).
Placed the order this morning. Dropped the Zalman VF900 because I couldn't find documentation ANYWHERE on whether it's compatible with the 8800 series cards or not. I also read that the new cooling solutions on them are fairly quiet, so I'll give it a shot. I'll update this post with pics once I...
Seriously, don't be all down on your new rig just because it didn't cost the same as a mortgage. As long as you truly appreciate what you have and that you're happy with the outcome, that's all that matters!
Oh, and you're wiring looks fine to me.
I don't see why you would have wasted your money, spawn447. That thing looks like it's going to kick some butt...
Going to stick with the Raptor and IDE DVD Burner for now. Updated component listing:
Case - Antec P180B
Motherboard - eVGA 680i
Video Card - eVGA 8800GTS
Power Supply -...
Fantastic responses. I really appreciate you all taking the time to look this over. I'm going to address these comments one at a time. Let me know what you think.
Yeah, I've been constantly trying to stay informed in the Nforce 680i SATA situation and it was my understanding that the latest...
Yeah, I think I'll swap over to the P180b to give me some extra room and cooling around the case. Any other ideas or comments about the RAM or hard drives?
To the almighty [H],
I need to call upon the community for a little help in finalizing the parts for my new computer build. This is the first system that I've had the opportunity to build from scratch in over three years. I've survived thus far on hand-me-downs from friends and family...
Keep in mind that even though this MMO is being made by Interplay, this is not the same company in the slightest that made the first two. I'm suspicious of the quality of the MMO since most of the original developers left to form Troika.
Also, keep in mind that this is NOT Fallout3, which is...
I use the latest version of Sunbelt's Kerio Personal Firewall (free). I've found it to be excellent and a worthy replacement for ZoneAlarm, which I personally consider antiquated.
I just reopened my account on Blackhand. I got a taste of the large guild, end-game raiding and didn't care for it much, so I figured I would go back to my roots of casual play. One of my goals with WoW is to have all of the armor sets for my class and I just completed Valor and one my to...
This is just personal opinion, but even with Vista coming up soon he doesn't need 2GB of RAM if he's just using this for business with no games or media creation. 1GB should be more than enough.
Also, if you're wanting him to have all of the fancy "Aero Glass" GUI features in Vista, it will...
Vocal minority, my friend. Just try to keep that in mind when you peruse the forums. The only reason most people post their problems here is because they know that they will get a response from either you or Chris (which can be a good or bad thing).
Congrats, OldRunner! I'm sure you have a...
Reading comprehension FTW.
This entire thread is pure about the Collector's Edition of the game, not the vanilla version that you linked. As of the time I'm writing this, EBGames does not have the Collector's Edition of Burning Crusade on their website.
No offense, but don't call someone...
Honestly, I'm in the middle of my profession's "busy season" so god only knows when I'd actually get to install and play it (I'd have to actually be at my house for a day, heh), so delivery time isn't really an issue for me. I haven't seen anything on EBGames.com about it, but I'm sure it will...
That hit the nail on the head, IMO, with the additional caveat that you also apparently have to hate the sight of money in your pocket and must spend it as soon as possible! ;)
Here's the scoop.
When I first went out to purchase WoW, all of the stores in my area were sold out of every single copy. Out of desperation, I just walked into the local Target and the only thing they had was one copy of the Collector's Edition, so I bought it because it was the only copy...
If the order processing, technical support, and RMA process had been absolutely stellar and trounced the industry standard, it MIGHT come close to the price tag on the box. However, with all of the above services being performed at most in mediocrity, I agree with the score of 1 for Value as well.
Bethesda bought the rights to Fallout when Interplay shut down. They've long said in interviews that the current title they are working on is Fallout3 using a modified Oblivion engine (last I had heard).
Honestly, if you haven't had that exposure to the 'hardcore' side of WoW (through someone else's playing habits or yourself), you would probaby think that episode was mediocre. But knowing how WoW affects people makes that episode so much more appreciated.
I'm also a bit confused as to why they glue connections inside of the case. I can see the reasoning from a shipping standpoint and the risk of something coming loose, but you would think that the customer aggrivation and chance of damage when they tried to upgrade a component would GREATLY...
Definitely a warm welcome to the new staff. I'm very pleased to see that [H] decided to move to a non-numbered final scoring system and are keeping on top of their process.
I'm an IT controls auditor for one of the "Big Four" public accounting firms. About 95% of all clients that I have had the opportunity to review use Iron Mountain for their offsite storage. These businesses range from medium-sized to Fortune 100 companies in all industries.
I guess it all...
I have the IGN/Gamespy Founder's Club subscription as a freebie for having upgraded Comcast cable service. It's decent, but I find much more value in Gamespot's additional content that's available as a subscriber.
HaMMerHeD,
Being in IT myself, I can completely understand your point of view when it comes to major releases and bug-fixing. However, some of the major bugs in this last release are sitting on the surface. These aren't bugs where you have to do the hokey-pokey with your character backwards...
I've done so. The reason why I didn't bullet point all of the bugs with the game is that there are too many to list (I read/post in these forums from work, so time is of the essence).
If you want a good rundown on what is wrong with the game, just take a quick peek into the America's Army...
I definitely agree that there is little room to complain for a free game, however this release was so incredibly sub-par in comparison to the others, it's surprising.
... and what a giant turd it is. It's so buggy, it makes EA/DICE look like beta-testing gurus (sorry, had to throw that jab in there).
In all seriousness, they took some pretty big leaps with this version. They added co-op against 40+ AI enemies, new weapons (HMMV with CROW and a Javeline...
I remember playing it in elementary school ... passing by someone's tombstone and stopping to read it
My other favorite is "You come to the Whatever River. What would you like to do?"
FUCKING FORGE IT!
"You lose two oxen, one hundred pounds of food, and little Jane."
Shit.
