been a long time since ive purchased any hardware
over the past month weeks and lately more often days my pc will hard shut down for no reason. not even when gaming or stuff, say web browsing
also when i put the pc to sleep and try n wake it up it says it had a power failure.

so ive been considering the idea of upgrading my 9800gtx+ used in the rig in sig.
what a reasonable upgrade? ive been looking at the gtx 275 pretty hard, want to stay with nvidia generally.
game at 1920x1200, and like to have all the eye candy turned up... 8x AA 16x af....so im wanting at...
so right now i have the rig in sig. 24in wide screen with a 9800gtx+
my board supports the crossfire, and ive been thinking about what to do, if its worth it, sure its a gimmick, but would it be useful?
whats a semi budget crossfire setup that could compete against my card, or beat it...
so im very familiar with freebsd as all my server boxes run it, and of course windows.
however as my main os i always just run xp64, because of drivers.
what *nix os will support first my creative x-fi music, and my 9800gtx+ but not only support them but also support 64bit.

it seems when i install nvidia physx drivers on a fresh system install it will not see my phsyx card at all, and just use the physx on my 9800
but if i install ageias drivers for the card first, then nvidias drivers 2nd it will pick it up fine.
any ideas? am i doing it wrong? LOL

now i went from my rig in sig. amd x2 4800 am2 socket. it runs about high 30's idle and loads around mid 40's. that was with this silly water cooling setup i had on it.

so i got my freebsd 6.2 fileserver built, 2 graid5 arrays of 3 x 250gb disks (3 are like kinds of diff brands)
workin great, got samba, webmin, and proftpd on it.
this is holding lots of video, avi, mpeg, dixv xvid stuff....
any cool ports to load it up with. i know ampache will come...
so i have a shuttle sk43g, its an older socket A with a 2700+ cpu, gig of ram, kt400 chipset and some s3 integrated video
so i wanted to get back the memory that the onboard was using, something like 64mb. and i popped in a pci 3dfx voodoo banshee 16mb card. turned off the onboard video...
so i was goin to be using freenas for my NAS, but i still had stuff to setup and whatnot on the box b4 the final move. so i had 3 250gb disks and setup them as dynamic discs, then just created a raid 5 volume. its about 479gb total, not bad
so where are my raid tools in win2k3? would it be...
so i know the deal for the most part and im goin to either go with freenas or openfiler, quite liklely freenas since its bsd based, anyhow
