Actually you can easily get this thing to 10 drives with an add on drive cage for the 5 1/4 bay, sas card, and then use the onboard sata and esata (route esata to sata cable back inside case) for two more drives (mounted between the 5 1/4 bay and the built in drive cage). Not sure if the PSU...
Looks like BB gave it their own model number. The drive is actually a WD10EACS from what I can tell.

I've got an AMD X2-3800+ Manchester cpu sitting on my DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert motherboard, which I am ashamed to say, I have not overclocked. So my question is, since s939 is about dead it seems, should I OC the 3800+ or pick up another CPU and OC it? I saw the 4200+ special at...
So its the goop holding the HS off part of the NB? Nice job Asus! The only thermal compound I have right now is some AS5, which I would guess will do the job nicely? The spring clips on the HS should be enough to keep it held down tight once everything is bent correctly.
Ok, I'll look at it more when I get home, and decide what to do. I would imagine that the HS came partially off like it did maybe due to the cold temperatures (40F) outside today. If its just thermal tape, and if its peeling up (which sounds like it is, but still is in good shape otherwise) I...
Cant really make my own, its an integrated heat pipe system that Asus uses. But if its just thermal tape, and not epoxy, then I could certainly look at replacing that with another compound, and maybe bending the heat pipe system a bit to fit better.
I just got my MB from newegg today, and upon inspecting it, and just looking at it in awe, I noticed that the North Bridge heatsink seems to be tilt, partially off the actual north bridge. Its not much, and its definitely still making very solid contact with the half of the north bridge closest...
Just got my 5 drives and they are 7200.10's. Thank you Seagate/Outpost! :D Just for reference, the drives in the boxes are ST3400620AS, even though the packaging claims otherwise (ST3400633AS).
The only problem I have with trying to justify one of these from BB is that for nearly the same overall cost, I can get it online. For instance, ZZF has it for $335 shipped. I live 35 miles from the nearest BB, so thats about $13 in gas, 6% sales tax on the drive, 2 hours of my time driving...
I ran into this same drive a few days ago on their site, seems like it was $149 without rebate, free shipping, but when you clicked through to it, the price jumped to $309.
Convenient "mistake" or done on purpose? Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.
Yup, agreed! My E310 is my SageTV server, does a great job, quiet, CHEAP, plenty fast with a 2.8Ghz cpu, 1GB ram, did I mention CHEAP? :) Got almost $200 out of the free 17" LCD that came with it, promptly did a clean install of XP Pro when I got it, and as you say, if you dont need high end...
I do believe the 3100 == E310. I believe the E310 is Home/Home Office, and the 3100 is Small Business side. Same goes for E510/5100, etc
E310/3100 has limited slots though, 2 pci and 1 PCI-e x4 (I think it was a 4, maybe 1).
Got mine for the $57 price, shipped free. Also picked up a G7 mouse, but the black one which I couldnt find anywhere lately in stock. The two-tone is in stock many places though.
Yeah I have one of those in my cart right now, debating on getting it for a new HTPC recording server and sell the monitor to drop the price even more. Certainly not a bad deal I'm thinking!
Bought this in late April from newegg. Used it for a few hours for testing some HD playback for a project I was working on, and no longer need/want this card. Like new! Works perfect, includes all cables and DVI-Vga adapter, CD. Originally $129, I'll sell for $80 shipped ground UPS in ConUS...
Got my stand upgraded last night. Easy as hell to do, took about 5 minutes. And very nice now, I can set my center channel speaker under the monitor just like I want, and the pivot and tilt and raise/lower ability of this new stand are great! Its like having my old VP171b back on my desk, but...
So if the 7900 series isnt an issue with this monitor, I might look at getting one of those new 7950GX2 cards! Anyone used one with this monitor yet?
And who says size doesnt matter? :D
When you say forward, do you mean another 1-2" closer to the wall or your eyes? :) I'm trying to tuck this thing back a bit more (neck is getting sore from turning back and forth cause its sooooo wide!:D)
I mean, with the original stand, backed up against my wall behind the desk, the face of the LCD is about (guessing) 8" from the wall. This new stand looks like it would position the front of the panel closer to the wall, maybe 5-6" away. Or is that just an optical illusion from the various...
