I have approx. 40 new in the box Socket A Motherboards by various manufacturers & new Socket A Processors, Heatsinks & DDR1 Memory. With a decent AGP Video Card ...he could still play alot of older games, surf the internet, etc. Using a good Sound Card ...I currently have a Socket A system...

You're over looking one variable ...not all Motherboards will set the CPU/Memory & other voltages properly in auto-set mode. You should set them manually & check with an application like AIDA64.

Did you change your Motherboards Bios setting from "On-Board graphics" to the "PCIe slot" setting ?
