Great deal on this @ Microcenter @399. I wasn't too hip on the stand, so I used the stand from the Gateway FDP24 it was replacing. Perfect fit and height adjustment is just right. THe only slight issues for me is the OSD aren't great and the screen is semi reflective, but it looks great on...
Happy New Year!
So I am looking for a 27" monitor, no more than $400. Any mfg I should stay away from? I don't need 3d, but HDMI would be nice (going to stick a Mac Mini on that port) and DVI.
Lots of players out there I just need direction in which to steer away from bad ones.
I...
I see a lot of IKEA Galant desks here. Simple yet sturdy and customizable.
Another bit on the SSD route for MBPs. I thought about getting one for my MBP, but opted for the 500 GB 7200 RPM drive instead. Faster than the 5400, but more room than the SSD w/o spending a fortune. I couldn't carry...
I am currently running a GTX 460 and apparently BF3 won't play on it. So if I want to upgrade my card, which road to go down? I haven't used an ATI card since having a 1600XT. I would like to keep under 300. Not sure what models to get. Any pro tips?
Thanks.
Instead of trying to go off hte Mac Setup thread, I would like to do a thread for you music/gear heads. If you record music, what gear do you use and what app you use to do it.
I don't have a pic night now (messy desk) but I am using:
Mac Pro
PodXT
Garageband 11
Carvin CT6M
Gibson Les...
sure it's nice to upgrade, but there are other factors too. i "upgraded" to the 950 from a 920 only because the wife's motherboard took a dump. i had a x58 board lying around, dropped the 920 in it and put the 950 in my sabertooth. i picked up the 950 on cheap at microcenter for like 199. in the...
saving some pennies for a H50 or H70. my current HS is just a little too loud. what paste is everyone using now? a while back it was arctic silver.
also, what memory? I have some patriot stuff that is OK, but have to rma some g-skill that is shit. i hear the corsair stuff is good, but pricey.
I picked up one of these bad boys a couple weeks ago @ Microcenter here in DFW. I am running it on a Sabertooth X58. So far I have it up to 3.7 on a preset in the BIOS. Looking for some more tweaks to get to 4Ghz.
Post up!
So update. I upgraded to a 950. I yanked the patriot to put in the wife's new (my old 920) and she booted to 6 GB no prob. I left the GSkill in mine. Now I was reporting only 2GB of the 6. I swapped between the two again, the Patriot showed 6GB in mine and 4 in hers. Sounds like defective RAM to...
Got the wife a G2 for Christmas. She currently has a G1. What is the best way to back up her info and get it on the new phone? I saw mybackpro out there, but not interested in paying for a quick and dirty.
I am an iPhone user, so I am unfamiliar with Android Apps.
Noticed my Sabertooth X58 just started showing 10 GB, after it posted 12 for a while. It has the latest BIOS. I have 6GB of Patriot and 6GB of G Skill, both with the same specs.
So I swapped a Sabertooth X58 in place of a P6T SE, and while I was in there decided to so some dusting. So I blew out the whole case including the PSU. Put everyting back together, and lo and behold I get a no POST error at the VGA LED. I swap the card for a known good one. Same error. So I say...
Well since this my 1st i7 OC, I thought I might take a bit and see how it does and adjust any mem timings, and adjust the fan on the heatsink. I did a reinstall of 7, I am reinstalling CoD4 as I type.
Let the games begin....
So I upgraded to an i7 (Details in sig). I was waffling on an i7 vs. an i5. I picked all the stuff up yesterday. GOt everything swapped out and put back together.
I had picked a CM Sniper case but had some issues with with the way they wired it. After some research I got everything hooked...
Snow Leopard doesn't work in our Novell environment. There is a known issue that 10.6.1 didn't fix. Run a couple Xserves and everything is good. Our enterprise has about 3k+ Macs that I help support, ARD rocks. We use Filewave to manage software, so not a huge deal.
From reading it looks like we get Win 7 12 days before release to "familiarize" ourselves with it. Party goods to be delivered on the 10th, which looks like it includes your free copy.
Got my confirmation as well. Does anyone know how they sent out the invites in the first place?
Free copy of Win 7 Ult? Hell yeah. Since my wife got a new laptop a few weeks ago, she gets a free upgrade as well. Sweet.
They would have to prove that the hard drive caused whatever went wrong on the Mac to cancel the warranty. It's like a car warranty. So if the superdrive went bad, they can't comeback and say "Well your hard drive replacement caused that". Illegal in the US.
I picked up a 500GB @ the egg for...
The overall response time to apps launching and such. I haven't noticed a decrease in battery time really. Also, if you are reading HardOCP, you can replace a hard drive in a MBP. Not that hard at all. Make sure you have a T6 bit and you are good to go. Lots of online guides for this.
For anyone with the previous model MBPs, would suggest a 7200 RPM HDD upgrade. Really gives new life to the laptop. I recently did it and it can really notice a difference. As it stands, I have a 2.6 w/ 4GB of RAM, so it's not a bad system. It would be nice with the faster bus and RAM.
I still...
But a lot of those people bought FW400 drives or have had those drives for a while. I have a LaCie 40 GB that is FW400 only. I have had it for like 5 yrs. It is now a OSX boot drive for troubleshooting. I had to go buy a FW400/800/USB drive to boot the new Macbooks. Don't even get me started on...
FYI, Apple has discontinued FW400 support for Macs. I now a lot of creatives who are PISSED. So a new unibody MBP has only FW800 and one less USB port.
Anyone using the 3G iPhone with TMo's 3G network? TMo has has their 3G netowrk up and running for more than a month. From the specs, it looks like the phone can use the bandwitdth, but I haven't heard of anyone using the TMo network yet.
From the TMo 3G map, it looks like I have coverage for...
California did this a few years ago. We have so many IT workers here they filed a lawsuit and won. We got paid for two years of overtime. It was funny because we asked to estimate how much OT we worked. Hmmm....
We get paid for the work we do. Simple as that. I think they should enact that...
