I only had one issue with Steam after the update ...but steam fixed the issue the next day. Oh and the mouse razer driver (synapse) increased boot time by 8.3 seconds but then seem to resolve itself after driver update eventually got installed after windows managed to get back online.
Also...
how is this like rambus?? Rambus was evil because they claimed they that they owned all SDRAM and DDR technology. They then sued just about everyone in the memory business after having dropped out of JEDEC and setting everyone up.
They were convicted of fraud.
The two situations are...
dang got me excited I raced of to see if I could use my gt legends. It was only after I opened the box that I found out it used starforce drm. Never used it.
LOL I was hopeful as I saw you can now get it through steam if you have the code without the drm. But I have no code apparently as...
oops forgot to mention that i had selected to give MS full access to get the preview build...then thought not when i read risk of losing data. It had turned some of my toggles back on so wasn't a mystery afterall.
hopefully, you saw that they just released updated nvidia drivers today as noted by [H] and selected those instead.
-------------------------------
And nope I don't buy into the MS is encrypting spyware and bringing down the man! :)
I will admit i turned this off when using win 10 custom install but today i found it turned on.
With all the outrage over other opt out programs through the years from govt and so on. This is needless shooting in the foot by MS.
They have all the preview testers and usage data. Surely...
seems I linked to an old driver
here is an updated one for your 980 http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/90500/en-us
Once bitten twice shy. understandable.
My main is running ATI, err amd. But I do have another running NVidia without incident.
I guess the difference...

these are certified for windows 10. tested and tried (geforce 400 and above). There may be another issue with your system.

If you are compromised there are indeed quite a few posts saying steam support gave them back their accounts within a short time.
That is one of the many great things about steam games. No need to re authenticate.
Steam knows to find the games again.
Easy to move.
Easy to backup.
So here i would wish that win 10 took a few pages from steam's playbook.
I have a slow link to the internet and never thought i...
actually i would need to know your computer name and model to be sure of me saying you don't need asus if it is an older computer to see what addition usb controller is being used for usb 3.
You don't need asus for usb support. An odd issue indeed i have not heard of before.
USB device tree viewer would discover any issues you had there. But i know you are not anxious to leap back to 10 to try it out.
Indeed 2048 :)
But once discovered, it gave me a good reason to clean out the clutter of old in the start menu. :)
To discover if you are affected ..admin mode for powershell type:
get-startapps | measure or yah, go to preview build if it is not your main computer.
Windows 10 is fine. This tinfoil conspiracy is puzzling as unlike most others, you can turn off what you don't like in a very granular way. (not even talking about using the group policy editor)
Onedrive is like any cloud service and you don't have to use it. You can hide the lille cloud...
As to be able to easily make your own games ...woot! :D MS is innovative ..execution lets 'em down mostly. xfingers for the holodeck esp.
As to the whole windows 8 kerfuffle ... that is so 2 years ago.
Sure when windows 8 first arrived on the scene ..poor help made for a bad taste when...
I have a msi z87 45 gaming.
It took a couple re-installs of killer driver to get nic working properly.
I also have flaky front USb 3 ports.
but if you flash to the latest bios of 1.9 .. it adds stability and improved usb 3 performance among other things.
unless, of course, your...
well thanks for the group consensus :). I guess I am just having a hard time getting over my decades of defragging bias to avoid corruption and performance loss. I can't find any current info, drescherjm, to maintain my position and concern. I also learned that the windows 8 disk utility...
hi well .. I am running on an intel I5 4670k in a msi z87 45 gaming MB 8 gig corsair ram .. with a radeon r9 270x PSU is a corsair HX 650 (the only part I am not really happy with)
- latest drivers save the msi firmware is at 1.5 instead of 1.9
vertex 4 latest firmware is 1.5 .. I've...
HI, i have a 128 GB vertex 4 SSD with a firmware of 1.5 running on windows 8.1 pro. For the first couple of weeks windows booted lightning fast...all the startup programs were just there. Then things slowed down some.
I keep the drive less than 1/2 full now ...but have come to live with it...
it will be the same as always ... free within a certain number of months of new release ... 13$ within a certain number of more months ... and for a limited time only .., 40$ or 60$ with a disk for everyone else. No one has an excuse to then complain it is too much after that window has...
I have 2 reasons .. I have had up to 13 games sittig on my shelf because they turned out to be horrible. I have 3 games I never opened because I found out they had draconian DRM.
These days I blame steam. With the great deals, I now have over 100 games. So I play here and there on all the...
" let the market sort this out "
This assumes there is NO monopoly or duopoly.
It is this blasé mindset that is eroding our freedom in the digital universe.
Seems all too many are missing the point of the article. The article is lamenting Nintendo's choice to only sell it's games to its own hardware platform... losing out on the billions it could have made by selling the games on the xbox and ps platforms too.
Sure the side jab is aimed at a...
i got skyrim pack and xcom so far. Thanks steam :) (still have a backload of games to download but so enjoying the batman stuff ...amazing games at mass appeal prices )
Ms has not done anything that apple and google are doing right now and not being frowned upon...even though they are using their monopolies to branch out in other areas. So i think it is fair game to point that out since the other guys had no problem doing the same.
the one word for everyone...
I can attest to be set in their ways.
I moved to win 8 back in January. I was most upset about not being able to boot into the desktop right away. I spent 99% of my time in the desktop mode.
But a funny thing has happened ... I use the metro much more frequently as there are a few...
"Remember when good stuff came from Japan" ? umm, not so long ago but not before the dinosaurs roamed the planet, it was japan cheap knockoffs. It just takes awhile for labour reform to catch up to an exploited labour pool. Soon it will be quality Chinese products. But, being a western...
This is not failure over time.. this is DOA. The number is huge. Not as huge as Apple having to return 8 million iphones to foxconn ... so lets say large and the full scope is unknown. And since it is so unlikely that so many systems would outright fail .. I tend to belive more than ever...
"I may have come off like I'm anti XBone... " gee, I wonder why people think you are anti xbox one ? :)
as far as failure rates go ..it is certainly shaping up to be something much more egregious than .04%
It will be interesting when sony releases the actual failure rate a few weeks...
more than 20 years ago I started computing ... but there was no space for a mouse on the right side of the computer .. so I learned to use it on the left.
It feels natural save for trying to draw with the mouse and trying to find a left handed mouse.
A person ends up being limited to a...
