Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

Well I got my Incredible :) I love it so far. I'd completely forgotten what it was like to actually have a portable computing device as my phone because my 3G iphone on ATT was so completely useless. Now to learn about Android. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

I went to a verizon store today and I liked to Droid Incredible more than any others. I think I'll pick one of those up for $175 or so and I can sell it for at least something if I decide to upgrade to iphone 5 or a better android phone in the summer when bionic/thunderbolt/etc. come out...

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

I know that one issue with android is that older phones don't support the newer versions of andriod. Is that a big issue in terms of performance and functionality? Would there be things I couldn't do on the Droid that I could do on the Droid Incredible (not from a hardware perspective, but from...

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

I think I'm going to give Android a try - I'm curious about all the apps that can go deeper into the OS for functionality. It looks like getting a used Verizon phone is the way to go. Between a Droid, Droid 2, Droid X or Droid Incredible what is most recommended? A question about numbers: I...

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

Well I think it makes most sense for me to get a pre paid plan with Verizon so I don't lock myself in in case im in love with the iPhone 5. Of the list of pre paid verizon phones, which ones do you all consider worthwhile? I use my phone primarily for: Calls Texting GPS occasionally a...

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

Does anyone know about how androids sync with OSX (ical and music mostly). the no contract option is very interesting - would let me try out android without commitment until the summer when i can choose to go iphone5 or the latest android phone.

Switching to Verizon Dillemma - need advice.

So I'm an apply guy - I've got a MBP, I love OSX, etc. I'm not married to it at all, I just enjoy the functionality. 2 years ago I got the iPhone 3G with ATT. I've pretty much always hated it. I live in Berkeley, CA so the reception is ludicrous, the data is awful - I can basically never...

    Need Some 2.1 Speakers

So I'm in a similar position. I have a limited budget (less than $100) and want a 2.1 setup. did we get consensus on what the best bet was? The swans don't have subs.

best time to buy: pre Xmas, around Xmas, or New Year

I'm just curious, is there any consensus on when the best time to buy a new system around this time of year is? Either now, during the holiday sales, right after the holiday sales, or at the beginning of the year?

Review: The Must Have Windows Programs?

I'm going to be building a PC again soon, mostly for gaming and intensive work. I've been on a mac for the past 2 years, and love it, but I miss many things from Windows (gaming, for a big one). Anyway, I'm very unfamiliar with the software side of things on Windows at the moment. I'll be...

do folks think SFF systems are in any way inferior to midsize systems? Are they generally noisier?

Is a sub $1000 gaming SFF system possible?

I'm looking to build a system that will be used for gaming, light photoshop graphic design and some animation. Nothing too intensive. I currently have a Macbook Pro (2.4ghz, 4gb 667 RAM, GeForce 8600M GT) and for everything but the gaming it does fine. That said, if the system I build is...

Need Quick Refresher: cheap gaming rig

So I did lots of building about 2 years ago. But I've been away, and clearly things change at lightspeed in this world, so I've got a few questions. I'm interested in building a system that would pretty much only be used for gaming. My ideal system would be small, very quiet, and very...

best time to sell a Wii?

I've got a Wii and a bunch of games: Sports, Zelda, Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, Excite Truck, and Metroid. Plus 2 wiimotes, 2 nunchucks, etc. How much do you think that bundle would go for? And what is the best time to sell this season? I've heard Nintendo won't meet demand again this...

Opinions on a 2.1 or 2.0 speaker setup

If you have a luxman receiver you shouldn't need an amp - assuming it has one built in. I don't know about modern luxman, but their vintage stuff is very highly regarded.

Can we get a list of budget bookshelf speakers and amps?

hehe, I'm not gone! I had sort of left after the AV123 disruption, but actually the veering towards reciever territory is great because I've decided on speakers and now need to get an amp! so all worked out well. the info you have all provided is great, thanks! That HK amp is GORGEOUS...

    Sonic Impact T-Amp Gen 2

how do you set up a sub with the T Amp? do you split the input? I'm curious how these with a nice set of ~$200 bookshelfs would compare with a "real" amplifier.

Can we get a list of budget bookshelf speakers and amps?

I am having a very fun but very time-consuming process trying to find all the different bookshelf speakers and amps I should be looking at. Price Range for Speakers: $100-$300 / pair. So far I've got in mind: PSB B15 and B25 Monitor Audio S1 Paradigm Mini Monitors (used/sale) or...

Going to get Audioengine A2s - any reason I shouldn't?

I have read tons and am trying to find a 2.0/2.1 setup for my desktop for music/movies/gaming/etc. The Audioengine A2s seem a good compromise between size, quality, bass, etc. Is there any reason I shouldn't get them? Will having powered monitors restrict me in the future if I decide to...

What's the Quality Difference between small and large Desktop Speakers?

Thanks for the responses, folks. I've seen people reccomend that T-Amp before with bookshelfs. I have to admit I'm a bit hesitant to be w/o a subwoofer, but only because I've been a logitech crony for the past number of years. For those who have had the Promedia's as well as a...

What's the Quality Difference between small and large Desktop Speakers?

I would like to get some upgraded desktop speakers. I'd like bass, but not overwhelming bass. My problem, though, is that I don't have a lot of desktop space (or, rather, I have a lot of stuff I need on my desk) so I just don't have room for normal bookshelf-size speakers. That said, I...

What is This?? M-Audio Audiophile USB

I hooked it up and I'm impressed - I'm playing the sound through these super cheapo Dell 2.0 speakers, but I can still tell the difference. Cool!

What is This?? M-Audio Audiophile USB

Thanks. I wouldn't be asking about it if it wouldn't be appropriate for me to use. I guess I'll try it out. It seems so old, I wonder if there are even new drivers for it.

What is This?? M-Audio Audiophile USB

In my office's closet way in the back I found this thing called an M-Audio Audiophile USB. A bit of research seems to indicate that it is a semi-portable headphone amp, plus some recording capabilities? Is this of any use to me? I currently have a Macbook Pro, and am looking to get better...

    Need Personalized Recomendation!

So I've been reading everything on this board for a long time, and I still find myself with a few questions. I'm using a Macbook Pro at the moment, though there is a possibility that I'll get a windows computer (i.e. better soundcard?) in the future. I am no audiop[h]ile. Right now I'm...

Recommendation on a 2.1 setup, bass not important

What are people's thoughts on the M-Audio series of speakers? the 20's or the 40's? They seem to be great, but I never hear people talk about them on this board.

So I know Bose is crap, but...

What I like about the Bose design is the ear-cup isolation without a giant form factor that makes you look like a walking DJ sans the turntables. So the Grados and the Koss 40s/45s popped out, but the Koss' have a mic, so they're out, and the Grados aren't ear-cupping, and my ears are generally...

So I know Bose is crap, but...

I know Bose is worthless. But I was in an Apple store yesterday and they had a pair of Bose around-ear headphones plugged into one of the ipods. I am not an audiophile, but I LOVED the way they sounded, as well as their comfort. What headphones would you all choose that are similar to...

are the grados comfy? since they don't "cup" the ears, it seems like the pressure would become painful after a bit of time.

    Swan M10 versus Logitech Z-2300

I'm surprised people seem to like the Promedia's more than the Swan M10s. Good to know, since for desktop speakers the Swans are a bit cumbersome. But damn the Swans are HOT. The Klipsch are...well not ugly, but boring.

    Just Ordered My Westinghouse L2410NM!!

so it seems there are 2 kinds of buzzing. One is the <98 brightness which is very loud. The other appears to be a quieter buzzing which, I think, is constant? Mine has the first one, and I just leave my monitor on 100 all the time, as buzzing annoys me to no end.

    Just Ordered My Westinghouse L2410NM!!

I'd say its so high pitched that it might mean only those who aren't experiencing high frequency hearing loss (Very normal as you age) would hear it, but it's not THAT high pitched.

No, I never experienced anything like Dedo did. And wow - I can't believe that NOW Bestbuy puts this thing on sale, right after I went and bought it from Newegg with their shit return policy. Ah well, hopefully I don't have any problems with the newegg monitor.
