I keep getting the "Host process for windows services stopped working and has closed" message, usually when resuming from standby.
Any idea what's going on or how to diagnose?
Vista 64 OS
Running Vista 64 and looking for a form-fill / password software pkg. that is secure and functions well. I tried RoboForm, but it's a bit confounding for my taste. Any other programs I should look at?
Thanks

Thanks for the link, however, interestingly, when I try to go thru the MS update or hotfix, I click on the V64 button and I get a response " your system does not qualify for this update".
Still have the problem. :(
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes.
I have Vista 64, etc. I notice at times when it resumes from SLEEP mode, there is no sound. :o
Once I re-boot, the sound is back.
How would I diagnose the problem?
Same here, I't's definately no hotter than other monitors in that size range! BTW, I did turn the brightness down a bit, and I think that reduced the heat output some.
It's also nice to hear some positive comments on this monitor. I have yet to see a 24" that has this PQ!
Yes, my Topaz S does tilt, and yes, it flexes alot, however, it works, such that it is, and once it's set up, theres not not much else it needs to do!
I suppose if I lived in an earthquake prone area, or had the monitors sitting out in an open viewing area, I'd have a different opinion.
I...
I didn't realize that I had two display controls.....nvidea AND Windoz. All I had to do was go to the Windoz control and drag one display to where I wanted it. done, courtesy of EVGA Support!
I have an EVGA 8600GTS which supports dual monitors.
I want to set the primary monitor (1920 X 1200) to be on my right side. I want the secondary monitor (1280 X 1024) to be on my left. They are different monitors, but both are DVI, and these are their native resolutions.
What occurs is...
One of the aps wouldn't install because it didn't see v1.1, so I loaded 1.1 to see and it installed.
The question I had was really does Net Framework behave like Java, in the sense that more than one version can peacefully coexist on the same Vista machine?
Thanks all!
Another question....I think Vista comes with Net Framework 2.0. Some of the aps I want to run have to use Version 1.1.x.
Will I run into problems if I install version 1.1?
Clearly that did it! Thank You :D
Amazing, I wonder if I'm the only one who didn't notice what Vista did  I might get to keep my n00bie status forever!
This has happened twice now. I partitioned a 500 GB drive with 125 GB allocated to the C partition, and 350 GB to the D partition during the Vista 64 setup.
During the partitioning and formating, I highlighted the C partition as instructed to install Vista on, but in both cases it installed...
The n00bie in me has to ask..... what exactly is that (nod32's internet firewall) ?
Is that the standard windows firewall I see in Vista 64?
I lied
I thought I had the same memory, but alas I have the Corsair XMS2 Twin2X which has a 4-4-4-12 latency .
Again, in order to have rock solid stabiliy, do you think I would need to change the timings to 5-5-5-15?
OfficeMax B&M, D6 here!
So far still rock'in, but who knows what tomorrow will bring.........
Don't you find it interesting that SOYO would offer two nearly identical 24" units, the Topaz S and the Topaz LC. There has to be a story there !
Could LC mean Liquid Crystal or Low...
That's about a cheap as your going to get. I wish they mentioned how long the arm was. :(
This is even cheaper, in fact this is just about the best place to get any TV or Monitor mount that I have come across.
I think I have found the problem,,,,, Memeo, which is part of Seagate Tools for the Free AgentPro is not copatable with x64 ..... arrgh!
So, now that we know that, is the a good external backup drive (and software) that is x64 compatable?
Like many, I was lured into investing time trying to use Easy Transfer for moving my files from my XP machine to my new Vista machine. It looked as though it was a good idea, however the XP machine just sits there. It doesn't freeze per se, because I an get Task Manager to stop the process, just...
I tried to load the Seagate tools, which wants Net Framework 1.1 and it won't install....well actuall it installed, but when invoked, it calls for Net Framework 1.1 (Vista has NFW 3.0) and just stops.
For some reason I can't run the (Pioneer DVD) executable firmare update in Vista. I see fro an instant, a DOS screen, then nothing, and the firmware is not updated. Any ideas?
Seems we could use a poll, or something similar, just to find out the failure rate and mode. A lot of time these forum posts are from those that have problems, not the ones that are good. Maybe it's just academic, but it seems like it has about a 50% failure rate, after 60 days.
Great heads-up post! :)
You are right about "good deal", about $500 less that the parts cost me for a similar build  without a two year warranty.
The case is Butt Ugly , but you could always hide it way under your desk!
Costco warranty is great. My concern is that there are...
Ahaa, quad data rate, I understand, just not the "pumping" bit, but it has a nice sound.:p
Anyway, I'm still not understanding how you got that score with that chipper. And, not that this is of great meaning in the real world, this is a new build for me and I was concerned that I didn't...
Once again sage advice from the Deacon! Wasn't really PO'd, just the testosterone kicking in :D
My system w/ Vista 64 is running like a dream........ hope I don't wake up
Caleb - what the hell is this "quad pumped"?
Anyway, my Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 [2.33GHz 4M shared L2 Cache] only manages a score 5.2 in stock configuration.
The Deacon has spoken.....and very well I might add. That's pretty cool, if it indeed does that.
We can close the thread now, and thanks to all for your input(s)!
It seems from reading that readyboost is only marginallly effective if you are running less than 1GB ram, and negligble if running over 1GB. Is that your experience?
