Can't disagree with this list. Saw ABit (RIP one of the best motherboard makers of all time) and Asus Rampage so I am content.
But man, 440BX was a BEAST chipset.
This is why I don't shop at NE anymore. They're pretty much my last resort in ordering hardware because:
1) taxes
2) obvious markups
3) customer service
Unfortunately, they're one of the few retailers carrying G-SKILL but the sticks I want are sold out so I'm going to order internationally.
I don't know, I think Nvidia would control more than 80% of the market if they supported Freesync. No one would be choosing AMD for gaming at that point.
Also, due to the poor release of Vega, a majority of people bought Nvidia cards to use on their Freesync monitors.
I actually would've done...
Does anyone here have a Vega FE + 10-bit monitor? Can someone please test if you have access to 10-bit OpenGL color buffers in Adobe suite?
I thought it did so I pre-ordered one from B&H but I'm hearing different feedback.
Best case scenario would have been the Titan Xp since I also game on...
No, LG has one: http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UC89G-B-ultrawide-monitor but the resolution is garbage.
A lot of G-sync monitors leave a lot to be considered to be honest. I faced too many QC issues with Acer and Asus. BenQ was the only good one for me.
On the other hand, FreeSync support...
Actually no, I didn't try hard at all. I confused you for sprayingmango because I swear one of you had a huge boner for AMD's 7970, especially with Eyefinity... it wasn't you, obviously.
I remember seeing your name back in the day in Beyond3D/Rage3D so it was simple enough. You used to argue...
Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with him as well. People who usually dismiss plasmas have probably never seen a Kuro live.
It says enough that people on numerous home theater forums like avsforum/highdefjunkies/flatpanelhd/etc. still haven't upgraded their plasmas to OLED because the...
The problem is that there are developers that can utilize advanced visual effects that do not punish older hardware. When taking this game into account, it seems like they were only catering to one GPU architecture while ignoring the rest.
You misunderstood his analogy entirely.
So basically, if a card is two years old, you should upgrade. The fact that a GTX 960 is beating a GK110 chip (GTX 780/780Ti/Titan/Titan Black) is not out of the norm.
Gotcha.
You know a company's marketing is doing it perfectly when their customers think it's normal that a current mid-range card (~$200) is beating a flagship (~$650, before the 290/290X-induced price cuts, ~$499 after) from their last generation of products. :(
Edit: Nm, the GTX 960 is priced even...
Because
when
is 100% anecdotal. There are various users that have no problems using a 290X with DP + HDMI with an HT setup, me included. I'm glad switching to DVI has worked for you, but just because you had issues with it doesn't mean AMD drivers were the root of the problem.
But you're...
You haven't explained your setup aside from using Monitor / AV / Projector so I don't understand why you are using DVI in the first place (aside from those problems you listed above, which seems like user error than anything)
I'm guessing:
Video Card: DVI <-> Monitor
Video Card: HDMI <-> AV...
Actually there are projectors that do use DP, but I'm guessing you just don't want to upgrade to those either.
Ancient tech is inferior tech except the FW900.
No, you're not being picky. The DP problem affects both AMD/Nvidia, people were complaining about it here as well. I don't blame you for switching, I'd be using DVI (BNC<->DVI) if I had space for my CRTs.
The only reason DVI is relevant is because of the FW900. The korean monitors are now obsolete due to ULMB/VRR, no point choosing them unless you're strapped for $.
AMA - Advanced Motion Accelerator
I believe Asus calls their Trace-free; both are just fancy names for their own response time acceleration technologies.
Considering this monitor costs ~$800 (MSRP?) and an A+ calibrated with perfect convergence FW900 costs $1000, I'd say no we have not come a long way from CRTs at all.
For $200 more (the price of a G-Sync module), I get a monitor that has superb color and contrast levels, response time...
Let's clear up some things before this snowballs any further. I'm going to quote TruckJitsu over from Smash forums because CRTs are still popular within the Smash Bros gaming community.
First and foremost:
All 60Hz Displays - Including CRTs - Lag one full frame before completion
That's right...
TFTCentral just published their review of the PG279Q, looks like it is NOT using the same AU Optronics AHVA panel as the XB270HU (M270DAN02.3).
The PG279Q is using M270Q008 V0... and in typical AUO fashion, the QC issues are still prevalent. Browsing the monitor thread over at overclock.net...
The FS2735 is going to be using the same AU Optronics AHVA (IPS-type) panel that is on the Acer XB270HU and Asus MG279Q.
Imagine what kind of CRTs they could make with the technology we have today. The FW900 is 15 years old now and it's still one of the best gaming displays... provided you get...
"Hurr durr AMD sucks, nothing new, their whole lineup are rebrands!"
"7950 is NOT a 280, they're totally different, you're stupid bro."

It's sad that Sony didn't pursue development with FED either... it would've been phenomenal to have SED/FED on the market. But I'll keep my ZT60 a bit longer and wait for other manufacturers to jump in the OLED fray. There's bound to be new implementations that'll pave the way for the rest of...
Guys, I see no problem here. Just sit down and take it... they have to do something to leverage you to do what they want. This is typical Nvidia.
Nothing like getting forced (GeForced) to install something unwanted.

I agree OLED is indeed the future. I saw your SW:BF picture and I'm glad that you are putting it to good use and are happy with it but we are comparing an adolescent technological application (who else besides LG has properly launched a mainstream OLED TV that wasn't astronomically priced) to a...
I never said that IQ was bad but compared to other flagships, it's not as remarkable as people make it seem, especially at $3k.
And yes, LG needs to abandon S/H and work out their black uniformity issues. I'm guessing you didn't watch dark movies? The black level is not uniform at all... it's...
Dropping in this thread to chime in... co-worker just bought a new LG OLED 4k TV (55EG9600) and he called me over to hear my thoughts about it since he knows I'm an avid gamer and I take my displays very seriously.
First off, this is a pretty damn good TV. Black levels are great but black...
