This doesn't solve the real problem though - the real problem is that people are freaking morons and will believe anything they hear or read, instead of seeking the truth themselves.
Of course, if people did that, that would mean people would be thinking for themselves, and that's just not...
The new selling fees are pretty ridiculous, no doubt. But what really ticks me off is how they double-dip with Paypal.
Point is, if you don't accept paypal (and ALL forms of paypal) your auction sells for less. They've completely integrated Paypal as their main way to pay for it. You can...
Ditto - sorry [H], but you got this story wrong. That's the PROSECUTOR'S quote. And I read nothing that said he was blaming the XBox for the infant's death - rather the guy's obsession.
Don't forget! If this catches on, all those ads you see plastered all over the internet, those are costing you too now! Woohoo!
(Thank god for adblock and firefox)
Me, along with many others I'm sure, still consider that too much. I get all my DVDs through Columbia House (make an account, fulfill it, cancel it, repeat). I average $5-6 a dvd (and yes, this includes the "special editions" and all that, including new releases too).
My wife being a (general music) teacher, blatant wastes of money in the school system like this piss me off.
Especially when, at her district (which is middle-of-the-road, not poor, not rich), she can only print off a limited amount of copies, her fifth graders have no books, and we have to...
Any chance those fps graphs can get something done to the "important" lines? The fps graphs in all the reviews are always hard to read. A bold or different color lines at the 30, 60, and 100 fps marks would be nice (personally, I'm only interested in 30 and 60, because for me 30 is playable and...
She wasn't computer illiterate. Apparently she's even written papers on P2P. The defendant is really only a pawn in this.
The problem is the lawyer, and really the judge and the jury. Getting a jury that knows what they're talking about is neigh impossible these days. Apparently lawyers like...
I snagged this, burnt it to the live cd, and thought I'd try it out on our "spare parts" media pc (MythTV looks awesome). I've never used any Linux flavor really.
First thing I did of course was try to set up the wireless card. I found the place to do it easy enough, entered the SSID, the...
While letters are down due to teh enatarwebz, I would assume that packages would also have gone way up.
Mail order was never popular, but with sites like Amazon.com and eBay.com, people are mailing goods to each other more than before. And since $5-10 for your average package is more than the...
Wow, this article was extremely off the mark. Along with Asadero's comments, the fact that the author actually used the fact that Windows will run on a Mac as a PRO Apple statement is ridiculous. It can run on that hardware because Windows does what an OS does best - talks to hardware.
And...
Decent review. Would've been interested in some Crossfire versus SLI action - and if the $300 for that matches what you could get in a single card at the same price.
As someone else pointed out though - curious how obsolete this will be since ATI's DX 10 cards aren't too far away, and we...
Don't they realize how bad it is when you release what is supposed to be a cutting edge, brand new product and many people go around asking "So when's the next one?"
You can get a refurbed one from Dell Outlet for $1049 with free shipping.

You guys still had better luck than I did. Here's my experience with Dell support:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1090216
Bottom line, Oblivion hitches, not in a normal "graphics are too much" way (using my crappier computer to compare), and he tells me to seek out a local tech...
Yes there is reason - we purchased this product from them, and they should do what they can to resolve it. The proprietary shit is all the more reason to at least lead us through some more steps - as in trying bios settings, or where to get the latest drivers for their unique motherboard and...
Just bought an XPS 400 for my wife. TN had a tax-free weekend for back to school, so we picked up a Dell. Their prices are pretty reasonable.
Anyways, I'm having issues with Oblivion hitching (see thread here ). Please read the thread thoroughly if you have any suggestions, as I've tried...
Nope. Nothing yet. Same exact thing as you.
Tried using the dell factory drivers, and the 91.33 beta drivers on Nvidia's site. I did try the clean install, as noted earlier in the thread, no luck. Exact same things.
My guess is at this point it's a bios thing or some such.
I called up...
Yeah, that's the plan now. Time to see if their support is as good as [H] claimed it is. Gonna make the wife sit on hold though by god!
Not sure, but it doesn't matter - I didn't format the drive. I created a new partition, installed onto it. Since it didn't help, I wiped the partition and...
It was more hassle than it should've been, but I got a clean install of Windows onto the Dell. After that, I loaded drivers for everything, installed Oblivion - same thing.
So, I guess it's not the random crap they put on the Dell that's doing it (even though I had most if not all of that...
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of doing.
Actually may partition out a spot with partition magic or something, install windows mce onto it clean, and see how it runs then.
From my original post:
I turned res to 640, and all sliders as far left as they would go.
The game plays fine on my machine (see sig). I mean, I have to turn the settings down, but it doesn't have this hitching issue. This isn't an issue of bad framerate - it's freezing every few seconds...
Anyone have any ideas? This is a new computer for my wife. I installed Prey, and it runs fine at highest settings. But Oblivion hitches like a bastard. Sometimes several times a second, never less than once every 2-3 seconds.
Here's what we've tried:
-getting rid of all the Dell bloatware...
Well, steam does have it so you can backup games to a dvd of your own, if you have a burner. Doesn't help the initial download, or if the media dies, but it's better than having to download the whole thing again.
I'm right now in the middle of a RMA with MSI. I'm seriously seriously pissed off.
First, they refused to do an advance RMA, where I let them charge my credit card. Not every company does that, but it's great when they do. But, my mobo is crapped out on me, so I do it the old fashioned way...
Thanks for the response. I never said you claimed that Dell made the perfect gaming machine - but the tone of the article left that impression on me, especially with lines like "The bottom line here is that Dell XPS gaming systems will run more games faster and with less overhead and less...
I've mentioned it twice already, and some others have too. Like the system restore image on the HD and no software discs, and the trouble and cost with getting OS discs. Also there's the AMD-lack that's an issue to some folk (not really one to me, even though all of mine I build are AMD). Plus...
The problem with the article is not soley that it's a positive editorial. It's that there are still some important negative aspects, that are completely uncommented on. And we're not used to the [H] ignoring things like that, which this editorial does.
It felt more like a footnote I guess, and that's what is giving this whole article the funky vibe. We're used to "We got their stuff, and we put it through their paces. Here's what we found out." instead of "Dell invited us, and showed us a demo of how their tech support works". Instead of "this...
Great to see that they're trying to fix themselves. I agree with others, though, that it comes off as "Dell paid us to say this". Detailing their new plans is great, but people need actions not promises. If you've went through the (very awesome, might I add) typical way you review the whole...
