I was searching and found a thread on technet with almost the exact same problem...someone fixed it by running dir /a/s on a command line with elevated (admin) privledges and magically recovered 100GB in unaccounted for free space (see...
Well thanks Thor for recommending windirstat, great program. It reports that 26gb (I "misrecalled" when I said 24 in the first post) are being used across 122365 files on the volume (well the column says "> Size"...).
CHKDSK reports that 6827xxxx KB are used in 110376 files and that the disk...
Hello,
I've got Windows Server 2008 R2 (I wanted to try hyper v!) and I put the main OS in its own partition on a 500GB drive. I've been using it for a while with no issues. The partition is around 70GB, and is supposedly full. Last time this occured I just deleted some old crash dumps which...
802.11n wireless router + appropriate client nic(s) all around. Not necessarily "better" but certainly neater.
Check out the recommendation thread. I actually kinda like this router (engenious ESR-7750), but look around. D-link seems to have a few good offerings based on posts in the router...
during my ebay travels I've found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270502712837#ht_842wt_1165
the HP 8530w...for 765 shipped. If you get it through microsoft bing it'll be ~700 bucks. It will be nice for photoshop given the resolution - and given the quadro card it will...
You can fix the touchpad issue by upping the sensitivity, though then it could just get really awkward to use. The best 14.1's on the market are the hp 6930p and the lenovo T400 (as far as I can tell). Adidas post contains some good recs also.
I think you really should take a look at ebay. I just got an awesome deal on an 8530w HP laptop. It took me a good while to decide between that (which was new and unopened) and the 14" version, the 6930p. I've included a link to the 6930p I was looking at - it is listed as 699 with free...
Check out the Asus UL series. Newegg is having a special on the UL50 i think, so check there. The form factor may not be ideal for web browsing though.
Other then that I generally suggest looking at business series laptops. If you search on bing you could snag a 14" hp 6930p or maybe even an...
Tigerdirect actually was selling one of the HP 8530p 15.4's for 729.99.........they might get more in stock soon. This was an unbelievable deal. Right now they have some listed for ~1300+ but apparently they are due to get more of the cheaper ones back eventually. You could also look into MSI...
Doesn't ATT give you a 30 day eval window to try out service? I mean if you get poor reception at a location you don't visit regularly that is one thing but if it is your house then naturally they'd expect you to discover that before the end of the eval period. Now you could unlock it and go...
another vote for NOD32 Business edition...but this link should be helpful...you'd need the business edition because the standard edition will not install on Server 2008 (the MSI or similar verifies the OS you are using)

how is this a myth? it has been empirically proven, demonstrated and documented on numerous occasions
the fact that it matters less now because of more powerful processors and less use of EAX and the like doesn't really make it a myth
the real question is why build a gaming system with 8GB of...
I use it daily....I rarely have any issues. For the two or three I've had so far a google search has generally resulted in a quick fix. I'm on a laptop btw....I use it mainly to save $ (student) and will probably use it for some webdev related stuff, especially if I decide to get into asp.net...
calling a 17" display with that resolution low res is the understatement of the year imo :D
but I am a bit of a resolution whore
I looked around and if I were you I'd look into the Thinkpad W500 or the Dell Precision M4400. HP Business has many nice 15.4 offerings but right now they don't...
if I were you I'd even consider a customish portable rackmount setup...might be more annoying to get the parts for but you could even put a handle on it and carry it around like a briefcase
but to be perfectly honest you'll probably be OK with a laptop...though having a backup is always a...
if you really want to check the PSU just swap it with another one....you could test it but it doesn't sound like you have that equipment
I'd make sure everything is alright with the mobo though...it could be a number of things
I'd probably try a bios update just so that when you call/write in the RMA req you can say you did....especially now since all you have to do is usually download a tiny windows flashing application. I'd probably run whatever diagnostic program is provided on your HDD manufacturer's site just for...
what is your current configuration? have you tried having the di524 use the airlink's DHCP server (rather than assigning it's own IP addresses)?
try disabling the d links DHCP server and using the airlinks :) might fix the problems
also do ensure that the subnets match
I've been happy with my hp business laptop (has ati x1600) and in general I think business laptops tend to have more proven drivers and components bundled. If you are sick of HP then you could maybe go for a lenovo/'IBM" thinkpad or maybe the dell latitude series. That said I'd try to diagnose...
Do you want a 2.1 system or a 5.1 system? or do you want a portable solution? Maybe a 2.0? I ask because you mentioned the fact that it was for a notebook.
You can maybe look through the refurbished section of Klipsch's website for some good deals. I am not familiar with logitech's line these...
the worst kind are slow failures when you aren't sure if it's a partition issue or bad cable and all your data is on the drive, 2 days after install is the kind of failure you want to have if you were given a choice unfortunately :(
Get some of the 1080 high quality movie trailers from apple

if you go to yahoo check out the trailer for the kingdom
You can be almost certain that dismantling the drive will void your warranty. As much as I hate to roll the dice with hard drive survival rates I think that this deal is worth it. Of course it is possible that they tagged the drives for external after they were put into whatever warranty...
kmtv = best n00bie ever
i'll update this post tomorrow with my model
edit: model is 7200rpm model, warranty is in effect
edit: just noticed bb website has pick up option...i'm not using it but the option is there
also apparently not all stores have them in stock so do check...
i'm gonna head down to BB tomorrow and check this out, thanks
i actually came in here looking for a notebook hdd deal :D 80gb doesn't cut it these days
hope it has the 7200 in mine also :)
edit: mine is indeed the 7200rpm drive
without telling us what you are looking for it is impossible to make a recommendation, you could spend 500 dollars or even hit your 1300 dollar limit depending on your needs/wants
i would get a T61, nc8430, or a latitude d series...might be hard for 1300 but it can be done
the Dell will have worse build quality but it is the superior system performance wise here
dell has tons of coupons floating around that might be able to save you some cash
asus does not make cheap systems unless you get the barebones ones - if you don't believe me look at the W3J or the...
the vast majority of notebooks are made outside the US...in fact it's hard for me to think of one that is made here
companies like asus make them for multiple manufacturers like apple and dell under contract
the more you know....(shooting star)
check for barebone noteboks that you could...
damn I was going to hold out for a 200GB >150 but this might be too good to pass up...i guess i could use the existing 80gb as an external and call it a day
