Yes of course, Trinitron tube when adjusted properly ( not old dying tube ) will give you best contrast and colors in CRT area. Diamondtron tubes used in NEC/Mitsubishi and others are also very good. Sony is also good brand, u dont get great picture quality just by tube, theres electronics and...

go with g500 or sun, both are same specs except looks, i had g500 it was excellent monitor, now i use g520 by HP ( labeled as p1130 ). Viewsonic is out of choice between this three monitors. p.s. i'd go with 2x for that price if they are good condition hehe

OT: Are you Silencer000 from Lineage2 ? - After monitor warmup ( 20-30 mins ) go in OSD to Color menu - there you should find option called 'Color return' or 'Image restoration' that should help a bit.
