I'm not sure what happened but the only internet browser I can get to work is the x64 IE. Not even firefox will run.
Anyone run into this before? I did just download and install the new synaptics pointer drivers before this happened. BTW where the hell is add remove programs?
Sorry Vista 64
The need to support my clients
Nope dx10. I need to support my clients!!!!! Just like when that POS ME came out. You just have to bite the bullet and support it. I have been moving to Linux for most of my user base(servers) but I do have a fair base of home users I support and I have already...
The memory upgrade does make a dramatic difference!!!!! Way faster!
The 1gb USB thumb drive doesn't have the performance needed???? WTF it's USB 2.0.
Wow, Wow, Wow, the memory upgrade does make a HUGE difference in this OS, sorry, I have a buzz going.
That damn new boot loader won't let me install the ghost image. It just blew up the XP install:rolleyes: Had to boot into recovery console to bring XP back to life. Hell I'm having a few beers, so I'm not going to figure out how to fix the loader tonight:D . Gonna reinstall because there was...
Well I just bought 2 gig of ram and a 1gb thumb drive. Going to reinstall the ghost image then check it out.
BTW, yes, I agree, the advice is all valid. I was looking for people that did a memory upgrade because of this OS and the results. I really didn't have any plans to install this OS at...
Thanks gentlemen. It was a generic question as I have read the 64 doesn't shine till it's full of memory. Was wondering how true this was. The only spec I didn't post was the CPU, its a Turion 32 1800.
I don't know if this will help you but I just found this at MS
How to modify BCD when installing a previous version of Windows onto a computer running Windows Vista

Good day all, Just stepped up and bought Vista 64 Ultimate (yeah I had to buy an operating system from MS this time, couldn't talk them into giving me one). I was installing on my laptop and the HD was less then snappy so I bought a 7200 rpm seagate to go along with Vista. Lappy has 1gb mem...
Man, I tried every trick under the sun last night to acomplish the very same thing. Even copied the NTLDT, ntdetect and the boot.ini files over to C:, then ran xp recovery console only to get shut down. Recovery console would see the install but would not run the bootcfg command without erroring...
They are referring to the beta versions. I figure MS has been doing RIS for 5 years and if you don't use any other feature of the server it would be just fine. But that's me. I'm lazy and would not want to walk around to every station and hook a cdrom into it then image.
No one said they had to buy it. MS gives out eval copies that are usually good for 90 days. I would be willing to bet they could do the roll out in that time. Hell I have many Beta copies from my technet briefings that I would be will to give him. After all I never meant this to be permanent.
Just a suggestion but why don't you take one of those boxes you have to do the install on and toss windows server on it. Run ris, do your installes then redo that one box when your done.
How can I make my system boot faster.
How can I make my system shutdown faster.
Does server 2k3 run faster then XP
I can't install XP with my SATA drives
More to come when I think of them and links when I have time to search
Found the problem... If you disable "Client for microsoft networks" and "file and print sharing for microsoft networks" on your outbound nic this will time out the service looking for a way to connect(I assume).
I disable this stuff looking for a cure for another event. Turned it back on and...
I've been there already.. No help. Thanks anyways.
From what I gather, port 110 is in use when exchange trys to start it, but for the life of me I can't figure out what is using it, I mean there's hardly anything installed on the box and none of it uses port 110.
Hey guy's, I've had a problem that just annoys me to no end. Right now I do not have the problem but sure as the sun will go down tonight the problem will arise when I install exchange sp1.
After the install, pop3 service will error out and the exchange pop3 virtual server will fail to start...
This drives ID is 15 by default, just remove all the jumpers for the drive ID's and that will set it to 0. The drive is also setup to power on immediately by default.
Because the Adaptec comes with a cable and terminator and the LSI didn't. The cable and terminator cost about $30.00 which about $3.00 less then the whole kit from Adaptec..
NT 4.0
it shows your in for the long haul and you've been around for a while and not just some noob.
I used the MCSE book from Syngress, very complete.
Usually when I get errors like that during a install I end up having to set the bios to failsafe defaults. Most of the time that takes care of the problem.
Just a suggestion, stick the original drive back in and since you have not been able to log in try using the "last know good configuration". If it comes back up use ghost and image drive to drive.
