I haven't even gotten around to moving the living room TV to 4K yet - I think the 1080Ti will be fine for me until Navi + 7nm comes out, and we (hopefully) see some real AMD competition. I'm not in a rush to supply nVidia with capital after their shady GPP BS.
Raven RVZ01, 1TB SSD, 512GB NVMe, R7-1700x, 1080Ti, BluRay Burner, 3 fans.
Under gaming load, hard cut with 450w SFX. Upgraded to the SX650-G, no more power cut!
A serious 4K gaming machine that doubles as a workstation, inside a case that doesn't look out of place in my living room, needs a...
Yeah, 3cfm won't be noticed. If my fan was like 35cfm or so, I'd go for it, but you're right, not worth the hassle.
I think I'll try flipping the fan and retest to start with. I may need to just step down to a 2600X, if CPU temps get to be an issue.
Well, answered my own question to 'why not' - it's a PITA to change anything in the case, and I'd have to disassemble the entire thing. Think I'll wait for a few ideas, then enact multiple ideas at once :)
IE, is there a more powerful fan I can use instead of the Noctua NF-A12x15mm? Seems...
R7-1700X here, no overclock (just bog standard out of the box) utilizing a Silverstone NT06-Pro + Noctua A12x15 PWM in a 'push' configuration, all housed inside a Raven RVZ-01B case.
I put it under a bit of a 'torture' (in quotes due to not having full CPU utilization) by closing it in the...
I ended up going the SX650G route, since they've updated it to use all Japanese caps, as well (though I'd like to see JohnnyGuru update that review with the latest SX650G version).
Strange, your link got sunk by my pi.hole - still, c/p into the address bar :) That's a compact ATX, not an SFX...
Well, first things first - be CERTAIN of the PSU you think you have! Turns out I'm running an SST-ST45SF-G.
I must have put the 550w PSU in a different system at some point in the past (first world problems, right?)
I should be right around the 500w load rating with this system, so yeah, makes...
Wow, all week, and no response? Nobody's run a system on the ragged edge of their PSU and experienced something like this?
I'm thinking SX800-LTI will be the model I go with. Just hate to snag it and find out I was way off base.
Raven RVZ-01, Asus B350-i, R1700X, 16GB Patriot DDR4-3400, 1080Ti, 500GB Evo 960 NVMe, with a 960GB SanDisk Ultra II for 'main storage', with a panasonic slot load BluRay burner.
Running a Nitrogen NT06Pro, with an NF-A12x15 PWM, mounted underneath as a 'pusher' up and out of the top of the...
Part of the issue I had with s939, was s754 for the Durons. I wish AMD hadn't created that division in their lineup, that's part of why it seemed like the Opteron 165 build I did was the *only* s939 setup I had.
Don't make BIOS updates easy enough??
I don't recall the last time I needed to find a working 3.5" floppy to create a bootup disk in order to flash my BIOS.
Heck, the newest boards just need an Ethernet connection to jump online and check themselves!
Damn kids these days don't know how good...
Nope. Generally due to one of 2 (sometimes 3) things:
1. Idle mixture is too rich with too low of an idle (to really make the po-ta-toe, po-ta-toe sound pop), so the bike will gradually load up on fuel and die at idle. Harley's from the EVO forward require a 900-1000rpm warm idle, but people...
As a former Nextel customer, I'm still not happy with what Sprint did. Nextel worked everywhere, never a problem. After the Sprint buyout? Nothing but issues.
Here in Jacksonville, T-Mobile works a LOT better Sprint, so this could be a good thing.
Then again, I'm wanting to ditch Sprint for...
So had a cracked screen, phone stopped charging. Figure I've been paying for Sprint's Total Equipment Protection, I'll finally use it.
They sent me an HTC Bolt as a 'replacement'. Yeah, no.
So hoping someone's got a good condition HTC 10 for sale. I'm currently going through the motions...
Just to re-iterate, you won't notice the sata 3 speed increase. SSDs make a huge difference due to low latency and how fast they are able to access individual files for the OS :)
A USB 3.1 card would be a good investment - they are cheap, and will make a huge difference on that external drive.
Just to touch on a point re: spindle speed.
Today's 5400rpm drives are *significantly* faster than 5400rpm drives of 10-15 years ago :) The platter density makes it such that even @ a slower spindle speed, you're getting solid speeds of 185 MB/s. Sure, that's slower than the 220+ MB/s of...
Looking around @ various AMD roadmaps, and I'm not seeing mention of Zen+ (2nd gen Ryzen) APUs.
Anyone got any info? Wife's finally going to let me upgrade her Ivy Bridge system - thinking a Zen+ APU would be just the ticket for what she plays (D3, Torchlight, etc)
Thanks!
Yep, hit up Best Buy and get those 8TB My Books. Can confirm, they are extremely good, especially for the price. I routinely grab mine ~169-189 in store.
Yep, they're $169 currently :)
I picked up Doom 2016 Day 1. First game in a *long* time I had done that with. Why? The scene where Doom guy punches the damn monitor while Dr Exposition keeps babbling. That's when I knew that this was a real Doom game, and the devs knew exactly what I was here for. :)
Looking forward to...
Everyone's going to say 60+ fps.
Reality: It depends on the game!
First Person Shooter? 60fps.
Real Time Strategy? I'll deal with 30-40fps.
Something like Solitaire or Freecell? Yeah, 20fps will do.
