If you think that I made your point with my last post, then you don't understand what you just read. Perhaps if I repeat it in more simple terms you will understand.
1. Any keyboard that has cherry keyswitches but does not have a rubber membrane layer to cover the switches will be susceptible...
Your 60 dollar eclipse is a piece of shit. It's laughable to claim that piece of garbage is a 'backlit' keyboard with it's pathetic attempt at backlighting that lights between the keys instead of through them, and comparing it to a deck is comical since all your shitty fucking keys lettering...
Saw this thread today, thought i'd chime into an obviously ancient thread.
My Deck Legend Fire is now at least 10 years old; i'm not sure exactly when I bought it, but it was some time over 9 years ago. And I've used it every single day since I bought it.
It's still running great, with no...
UnkleVito, if you could provide some insight, I would appreciate it. I have an A7217A that has started acting a little strange when it is cold. When the monitor has just been turned on, there are two things:
1. The monitor's convergence seems off - items are blurry. It takes 2-3 minutes...
Just noticed your post. FYI, NVidia had to basically re-write nView entirely for Windows 7; when they did this, they also made it a Quadro only feature. I run a Quadro video card at work for this very reason; nView is a HUGE (i can't stress it enough) productivity booster.
While this news...
House wiring is A/C - that is not the same as DC current and heats differently due to the cycling. There is a very good reason why we use A/C for transmission of power across long distances, but D/C for short power runs.
Wire ratings are quite arbitrary anyway; the length of the wire has as...
It's important to remember that just about all fw900's you find these days are going in unknown condition :( Most will be heavily used and all are very old by now :(
The luminance bleeding is an unforunate reality to some extent on crt's :(
I have 2 FW900; one of mine was horribly scratched up. It was only the coating on the screen too. It is VERY tough and quite thick - unless someone tried to stab through the glass with a knife or something equally sharp, the glass will be OK and the coating will be the problem. I pelled the...
LOL, yes, you should mention I drove 3 hours 1 direction for my first one - 3 hours totally out of town. Then 6.5 hours 1 direction for my second. Now this time 11-12 hours 1 direction if I can pick up two more. ;)
I'm blessed - I mentioned I found a source for 2 more FW900 but that they...
For TF2, right click on the game in your steam library listing, and choose properties', then click ''set launch options" and enter:
-refresh 100
Then set your res to 1680x1050 in game - you'll be at 1680x1050 @ 100hz. You can also do 1280x800 @ 130hz, just enter in -refresh 130 instead and...
I've got A hacked edid and monitor .inf that will work with latest nvidia drivers to allow you higher resolutions/refresh frequencies - at least, I am running 260.99 and it works for these... PM me your e-mail address and I will e-mail them over.
Some games still ignore these refresh rates and...
What vid card are you using, jdof? I had to use a hacked EDID (it's in one of my posts above) and add custom resolutions to the nvidia control panel. Then some games I also had to add force-refresh options to in-game. I'm using a GTX260.
Here's a link to my post containing my hacked EDID...
Ahhhh, I understand. Damn :( I don't have the WinDAS cable, or i'd make you a file right now. Sorry mang - somebody else here's gotta be along to help at some point though, several people here use winDAS, and the HP branded fw900 is the most popular one i've seen around.
Shipping a 100lb box that is as big as one would need to be to safely carry an fw900 without it being destroyed in shipping probably WILL cost that much including insurance from the US to Croatia. Even shipping it across the country costs over a hundred USD from what I can see, when it's done...
Well, i don't play a whole lot of the newest games these days I suppose, but I haven't had any problems with batman:AA, tf2, l4d, l4d2, supreme commander, quake3, rome: total war, empire: total war at least....
I feel your pain; i used to always get the newest drivers every time i'd install...
The link that I have up for those drivers along with my hacked monitor EDID file is still working:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1035009057#post1035009057
Using these and drivers version 182.xx I am able to run whatever resolutions I want on win7 64bit on my GTX260.
I check...
You think it's fast now.... ;)
Come on now, overclock that thing to ~3.4ghz at least - the stock cooler can handle it. Just don't bump voltage; give it a try just adjusting FSB. Your memory can handle the extra mhz :) That'll give you a nice boost. Then, get a decent cooler...then you see...
If you stretch the screen so there are no black borders @ 1024x768, everything will be out of whack..people will look very 'fat'. If you want easy to read but still to use your entire monitor, use 1280x800 - that's a widescreen res that will be easy for you to read, but will still use the...
Good choice on the mobo and cpu, but i'd get some cheaper memory, like this stuff from g.skill which I am using @ around 1580mhz in my i7 rig getting ~24.5gb/sec of mem bandwidth.

Ah, I see you already ordered. nevamind...
A single 9800GX2 would be roughly equivalent to a single GTX285. The 285 is just barely faster (3-8%)
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Leadtek/GeForce_GTX_285/26.html
Seems like a fair trade to me.
Here are the files that I am currently using on win7-64 bit...
SavedEDID.dat is my original:
http://headless.shackspace.com/FW900/SavedEDID.dat
NewEDID.dat is my replacement. It adds some key resolutions like 1680x1050x100hz and 1280x800x130hz, and 1600x1000 @ 120hz...
191.07 release notes show october 5th as their release date.
I'm thinking I will stick with 182.xx until there is verification that the latest drivers are (a) stable and (b) non destructive.
Oh what the FUCK. They fucking removed nview display manager from the fucking drivers? Are you...
You know, you're right. 2 or 3 projectors with a big nice curved wall, combined with this technology:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgrGjJUBF_I
should give you as close to VR as you can get without goggled and a suit. Damn that's cool.
You did the right thing. Gaming at 1680x1050 doesn't need anything better than what you got in the GPU department, and trust me, you will see a MAJOR difference in performance between an old e6600 and an i5, especially if you are smart and overclock that i5 some. I went from an e6600 w/...
If i knew of one, I would...i kinda pieced my picture of how to do this together from about 5 different forum posts that I dug up - and without the hacked 64bit drivers that I got from another member, i'd still be screwed on my refresh rates... I'll go hunt them down and post them here.
A GTS250 would be a roughly equivalent card, - but the smaller memory footprint would mean that at high res's with AA and high texture quality in some games you'd get swapping to system memory sooner on the GTS250. So they're right, as long as you're playing games at low res...
Have you moved the monitor around? If i recall correctly, i read somewhere that the monitor has internal magnetic style dealioz which are used to counteract the earth's magnetic field...maybe yours broke loose and moved?
yep...a degaussing coil is what you need. Technically you could even make your own..but you'd probably blow a breaker in your house when you hooked it up.
Just get a degausser....i bought mine for ~15$ on ebay. It helped my T.V. too; it had gotten a discolored spot from a nearby magnet that was eliminated by the degausser.
I suspect the answer is yes, judging on my experiences with server boards. If you're running raid-5, in fact, it's how you SHOULD be dealing with a disk failure. On the other hand, if you're running a raid-0 array and you unplug one of your drives you're fucked. I know that drives which are...
Mine in excellent condition (some scratches on the sides of the monitor but none on the screen) was 150$.
Where are you located? My fiance wants one now she's seen mine... ;)
1. I know you don't need the matrix storage manager to run a single drive in AHCI, because i'm doing it right now on my second PC. The matrix storage manager is only useful if you are using a RAID array or are about to turn your single disk configuration into a RAID array and don't want to...
The storage manager is not needed just to use your raid controller, only the driver - and the storage manager is totally useless for you if you've only got 1 drive.
There are 3 ways your controller can function - 'legacy' mode which makes it emulate a PATA controller, or AHCI mode, which is...
