well for me it was the power supply. sorry for not getting back earlier but had to go out of town and couldnt work on it. I switched the pci-e power plug on the same PSU and it worked. I found that really streange since the other pci-e turned on the fan but the other one turned on the fan and...
already put in a new mobo, new gpu new cpu and tried the ram seperately, but not 2 different pieces of ram. I havent tried replacing the psu yet, but i am still confused on how that could prevent the monitor from getting a signal. If the fans are working the floppy and dvd drive are working, and...
so i switched out the mobo board and still a no go. i tried to power supply reset and nothing happened. i do not have a power supply handy to try. Could both RAM be bad. and if so why would i not get any signal on the monitor, all it says is check your connection. no signal at all. i have tried...
so i used an amd chip from older computer and still nothing on the display. so could this just be an incompatibility problem or that the pci-E slots are bad?

unless both ram are bad, i tried them seperately and no difference. I do think i saw a new clue if this helps. i am not sure it is anything. while doing the ram test i had the panel open. i heard a very fast clicking noise almost like something was hitting the fans but all wires are moved away...
why would those stop the display from coming on? thanks i will try the ram. I dont have extra cpu lying around. I cannot get even the bios to show also when i turn on the computer the drives do work so there is a connection ( i can open and close them) would these work if the cpu was bad, and...
i finished building a new computer (my third) it is 939 amd asus motherboard sli, with a evga 7900 video card (only one). i put everything in turned on the power button everything lit up in the computer all fans came on and all optical drives booted up but there was nothing on the display, i...

i was looking to purchase a dfi lanparty ultra. i notice they all have two pcie 16 even though it is not sli. i wanted to get a x850 card (probably HIS). i need both pci slots for audio and hdtv tuner. will the x850 fit into first slot since it is near the chipset fan in the back? if it doesnt...
i have a question on that. i was looking at memory and the processor. the fx chips which are hammer core say on die FSB, and the venice say 1 ghz FSB. are these different? whats the difference between them besides the processor speed?
-rob
venice and sandiego are not fx chips though are they? In any ones experience do you get better performance starting with stock and moving up or buying higher ddr level and oc timing?

i am building a new computer, with fx55 and i am confused about memory oc'ing. i have built tow computers before but always stock, i wanted to go all out and get a high performance machine. I was looking at OCZ. My querstion is when you oc is it better to get ddr400 and raise it or get ddr500...
i rpobably will not be doing SLI. i am using fx55 and nvidia4 ultra mobo, with probable ati850 or new r520 when they come out because i need to wait a couple of months becuase of recent expenses.

i am getting a fx-55 AMD and probably a MSI, ASUS, or DFI nvidia nforce4 ultra mobo. i want to oc. i was wondering what level of oc people are getting on the ram. i would like to get ocz ram. should i get pc3700, 4000, 4200? thanks for the help
-rob
thank you moham that was what i was looking for. i am not going to OC my system so the highest that the system can use is the ddr400, like i thought. thanks for the help
-rob
i understand that but if i dont overclock my FSB, then what will happen if i buy ddr500, will it work or will it crash, or will it default to ddr400?

i am looking into getting a NF4 mobo and fx55. when looking at specs, the sites state that the mobo can only handle up to ddr400(pc3200), yet it seems that people put in higher speed ram from some of the posts here. What am i missing about this situation? can the NF4 hold higher speed/ and if so...
thanks for the corsair info, on teh next post yest the specs for the motherboards say max memory is ddr400, so does that mean i cannot use the higher ddr440 or ddr450 for these?

i am trying to decide between corsair and ocz memory(also which is the better subcategories of the two, is the twinx the best for carosair, and is the platinum editions the best for ocz). which is usually better? also my machine is amd fx55 with nvidia4 ultra. these say for memory max 400...
thanks i was curious about that b/c i like nvidia. they have more updated things like sata2 so i wanted to go with that one. anyone else have info one using the nvidia for a board with ati video card?

i am looking for a board for amd fx55 and ati 850xt. i ahve decided on via chipset becuase i figured they would work better with the ati card than nforce4 boasrd would (if i am mistaken about that generalizationabove please correct). The two companies i have found were asus and abit. my...
i actually was wondering that same question. would the workstation cards that are built for cad and other rendering be better the same or worse then the consumer cards everyone buys? i know they are more expensive but if there is a performance increase, then maybe it is worth it. please post...
i thought i read an article the gigabyte was coming out with their own type of SLI that can use any pci-e card? i cannot find it anywhere. i know they have the dual gpu video card, but i thought they were doing a non-nvidia sli board themselves. does anyone know if this is true i am really...
