Well, at least I guess they are since I'm holding my copy of Vista Business in my grubby little hands, showed up today. Word is they started the mailings in the middle of last week. So much for my prediction about getting it in March... MUAHAHA

Now to sell it off for a decent price. :D

Report yours when you receive it so I know I'm not *special* or anything...

Also, I'll assume they're mailing the Office 2007 packages also. I decided not to participate in that side of the promotion for good reason:

During the January 30th launch event here in Vegas next week, they're giving away Office 2007 Pro face to face. :D

I ALWAYS KNEW they loved the West Coast better than The EAST coast.

Did anyone have to sign for it?

UPS left a message that someone has to be home tomorrow to sign for a package, but I dont know if its the wifes shoes or this

I live in an apartment complex and the mailman... errrr... mailperson will leave packages at the office if they don't fit in the mailbox. I got lucky and noticed the note on my apartment door before the office closed at 5 and ran down to get it.

The only thing now is I don't have a machine I can even install it on. :p Sold off my Core 2 Duo laptop last week to pay some bills after my Wife's recent surgery, and all I've got for PeeCee nowadays is a complete SGI 320 Visual Workstation with a 1600SW LCD. Old skewl hardware, but it works...

I'll probably sell the Vista Business in the next few days on Craig's List here in Vegas or whatever, unopened as it is now. I'm sure someone will jump on it pre-release as long as I can get past the "All the software you want" spammers.

x86 version. Received mine today. There is a big thread about it over in the "Free Stuff" forum for everyone that received theirs.

Yup, check the Hotdeals Free subforum, lots talking about it there.

They are seeming to ship from MN, so thats determining when they show up. I got mine really quick as I live in MN :) (day after they shipped)

They started shipping Monday Actually :)

Also, this is a NFR (not for resale) version....so legally you cannot resell it.

Also,

Those of you who have the RTM install already...

I tried using the key I got from the PowerTogether package and it works with the x64 version. Its up and running AND activated on my comp now. So for those of you who have the RTM, you don't have to call up MS and ask for the x64 version to be sent to you. So far its running smoothly and I'm hoping more and more 64 bit apps start comin out real soon. Already tried HL2 and it runs in 64 bit mode just like in 32...although I'm sure it could run a bit faster once we get better drivers of course....and maybe when I turn down some of the eye candy.

I'm sure it was obvious about the RTM thing but I'm just puttin it out there in case anyone was wondering.

I also recieved my copy today. Does anybody know if it is OEM or Retail version that we recieved? Also, did you notice that on January 30, they are going to give us upgrade options ( Hoping to switch mine to Home Premium.)

You can only upgrade from Business to Ultimate, and that's $139 so... you get Ultimate in the long run for $139 - pretty nice price.

The Vista Business we're all receiving is the full "OEM" version but it's not tied to any specific brands or OEMs - it still follows the single install rule: once it's installed and activated on a particular piece of hardware, that's it, that's where it's going to stay.

So if you're not 100% certain after you install it that's the hardware you want it on, don't activate it, just use it for the ~30 days until the activation is necessary and then reinstall if necessary.

I thought I read in that post over at Chan9 that it was the full retail version sans the packaging? Need to look again I guess. Cuz I sure as hell know I ain't gonna stick with this mobo I got.

EDIT: Went through the pages of the Chan9 post regarding the OEM issue. The Offices licenses were Retail. MS reported the Vista licenses at Retail value so I'm assuming that they are also Retail. The main issue ppl were asking about over there was the Anytime Upgrade. You get the upgrade price to Ultimate for $139. But you're going from Business Retail to Ultimate OEM which means you can only install Ultimate on one comp and thats it. It also invalidates the previous Business key. In essence, a bad idea.

Mine was in the mail yesterday. So, it definately reached upstate NY. And if it reaches upstate NY, it must have reached all the other parts of the country since upstate NY is pretty much as remote and redneck as it gets.

Keep in mind, they sent uot 300,000 copies. I doubt they were all mailed in the same day, so, just because they've made it to some parts of the East Coast, they haven't gotten to all.

I think you meant 30,000. That was the target goal for the PowerTogether promotion: 30,000 Vista Business copies and 30,000 Office 2007 Professional copies. I could be wrong on this but I distinctly remember seeing either a press release from the PowerTogether website or something direct from Microsoft that said mentioned 30K as the cap on several instances in the announcement.

30K Vista Business copies and 30K Office 2007 Pro copies at retail = $25 million... *sighs*

The proverbial drop in the bucket... ;)

EDIT:

Found this just after I hit post:

I see alot of people on various forums mentioning they are going to sell their copy.

If it matters much, It specifically states on the back of the sleeve:

"This copy of Windows Vista Business is intended for the recipient's personal use. Do not lend or make illegal copies of this software. This kit and its contents are not for resale. For use on one computer or device."

It also says "Not for resale" right on the disc.

I got mine a couple of days ago. Installed and running perfectly. It's quite nice so far. :)

anyone received office yet?
i was NOT fortunate enough for the vista but watched the webcast for office

eh...i guess that is shipping it out lol...i stand corrected
Should we call it a draw, then? :) I was right about the shipping part...wrong about what was shipped. I guess when I saw people posting they their Office 2007 arrived in the mail, I assumed it was the disc. Whoops.

I am fairly certain if you change computers, your Vista can follow you there....

I'd agree. The warning is the same as all the others: "you can only install this on one machine". Which I translate to "...one machine at a time."

Someone from Microsoft called me last week to verify I'd be attending the launch event here in Vegas on the 30th at the Venetian Casino Hotel. I said yes, she said "You know you're getting Office 2007 Professional as a gift for your registration and attendance," I said yep, she said "You'll get a resource CD and information to download Office 2007 from Microsoft," and at that point I realized it was going to be a key I'd get and download info.

Guess they're trying to save a few bucks, and this way they can really keep track of who gets what and when.

Already sold my Vista Business copy from the PowerTogether deal, anyway. It'll be a few months before I can build my next power machine to handle Vista.

lucky...i had to get on a waiting list for Anaheim. And its prolly already passed cuz I haven't kept track.
