XFX GTX 480 shows up for preorder

Did you really need to post this? You're just giving free publicity to a store's lame stunt. Delete the link from your post and wait for the announcement that's only a few hours away. And the other rumoured MSRPs doing the rounds today are far more credible $299 & $399

Maybe this is the big announcement..you can preorder the card starting today. No way would I spend that much though, especially when so many PC games are console derivatives now.

$399 for the 480? Thats not too shabby..

Pros: 12,983,249,893,843 cuda cores of graphical rendering goodiness RENDERS MIDGET PORN LIKE NO OTHER, THOSE LITTLE BASTARDS LOOK LIFE SIZED WITH THESE CARDS !!!!

I knew these cards were powerful, but wow...

cheapest prices are 499 and 599 at launch.

Concidering the price of development, and silicon, all other parts.

599 and 699 is a BIG diffrence :|

480 then compete's with 5970.

I'm glad i bought my 5850 a long time ago, sicne it doesnt look like ati will drop prices when nvidia runs with their prices as usual :p

$299 for the 480 and it would sell like hot cakes no matter how much it sucks

At first I though that 699 was too expensive, then I saw you save $20, now that's a great deal. I pre-ordered 35 of them, its like getting one for free!!!. :D:D

Well, to be fair, we've seen $700 (and higher) video cards.

i remember when the 7800GTX 512MB was released and going for $800. someone here on [H] got two for SLI and posted a pic of his receipt for $1600 + tax. gratuitous spending or not, i was jealous of the awesomeness.

good to know those days are over...I think we can thank SLI/Crossfire for this...as more and more people jump on the multi GPU train manufacturer's are now pricing their single cards lower because they know that people are buying multiple cards

I could not read threw all the replys, but im sure most of us know this is not real, its simply a place holder, or a joke.

Why would they allow for preorders before there are any real benchmarks to allow for an informed purchase?

2GB Frame buffer will work with games such as Grand theft Auto 4. Which can actually take advantage VRAM. But costing double the price of a 5870 for 5% performance increase is not worth the money.

$700 for 480 GTX? Yeah right, that sounds like bullshit to me. Those price figures do sound way off.

No it doesn't, it sounds dead on for a new high end big GPU launch from Nvidia. The price is right in line with, say, every high end GPU they've release for the last 5 years, give or take.

6800 Ultra: $600
7800 GTX: $600-650
8800 GTX: $600
8800 Ultra: $800
GTX 280: $650

Notice a trend?

$299 & $399 are not far more credible, they are simply far more desirable.

lol @ the comments

This thing better wash/wax my car for that price.

fake XFX isnt an NV partner any more and wont be getting any G100s at launch if ever

thats what i paid! :D

I remember on Newegg BFG 7800GTX 512's were going for $999.99

If the strongly rumoured performance is reality, if Fermi is only close to 58xx performance it would be breathtakingly optimistic (or arrogant) for Nvidia to launch at the sort prices previously seen. I wouldn't rule out $600-$700 price points altogether, but with roughly equivalent ATi cards that would be at much lower prices only the most die hard Nvidia fans are going to stump up that sort of cash. That's why I think Nvidia will target $299/$399 - I don't actually believe it will happen in reality, I'm sure street prices will go much higher as happened with 5850.

IMO 3- 400 sounds a little more realistic.

I have to agree, this is little more than troll and flame bait.

Original Price: $3,999.99
You Save: $0.00
$3,999.99

It's a Tesela! That's enterprise level hardware, of course it costs insane amounts of money!

Here's a thought, maybe it's worth $699? What if it's 100x faster than the 5970?
