10.6"~12.1" for school laptop...

I'm considering to get an ultraportable for my schooling.

Going with this route will definitely give me the maximum mobility and convenience.

However, I'm worried that text would be simply too small for its intended purposes.

I will probably do basic tasks such as web browsing and word processing.

At home/dorm, I'll probably hook it up to some sort of external display.

What are your opinions on ultraportables?
 
I would go with at least a 12.1" widescreen. That way you can have a full size keyboard.
 
Dell is comming out with a 12.1 inch tablet that looks sick. Might want to wait for that one. Other wise Ultra Portables are going to cost a premium over normal notebooks.
 
I've bought a dell D420 (12", about 3 lbs) for classes - small and light but not very powerfull - I need a desktop at home.

I was using 15,4" with 1680x1050 resolution previously, so 1280x800 on 12" is ok.
