177.92 forceware out

If these don't downclock properly, there's no point in downloading.

yes this really sucks, nvidia can't get it working with so many releases.

there is one exception though, the 177.85 downclocks properly, of course, not nearly as good as the ATI counterpart, it is still better than running at max every second, as far as performance concern, 177.85 is just as good as this 177.92( based on the two games i tested: COH and crysis, and 3dmark vantage).

When at idle GPU=300MHz Shaders=602MHz Memory=100MHz
3D speeds GPU=602 Shaders=1296MHz Memory=1107MHz

That's a nice downclock when working properly on my 280s. They avg 10-15C cooler also when at idle vs. running in 3D mode while surfing.

Alright, I'll have to try it then.

It seems this driver is presenting a mixed bag with downclocking working for some...but not all.

I'll post my results.

FYI, I'm running VISTA SP1. Isn't that in my sig? thoutht it was.... I'll have to make sure it is.

Maybe they don't see the problem occurring in their testing.

What motherboard do you have? What drivers have you tested?

Are you saying 177.92 is broken but 177.85 is not??

these drivers work great for me, except for call of duty 4. for some reason it freezes (with looping sound) as soon as any gun animation takes place.

switched back to current release, no problems through 3 levels.

not that i really care, i haven't played a pc game since this driver set came out. even then, i played cod4, wic, doom3, crysis, wow and gow for about 15 minutes each just to test the drivers.

whooo hooo... physics. the gpu folding client is cool though.

a new game for me to play on my pc would be nice. spore?

ps3 nhl 09 MMO's potentially gonna lock up most of my gaming time for the next while... i'd hate the second best option to be another ps3 game while my computer just sits there, all sad with youporn re-runs etched in its cache.

Beta ugh..

BETA NVIDIA drivers mean they didn't send them to Microsoft to get WHQL certified

Most of the time they are just as good (often better) than the drivers on nvidia.com

Also, my report on these drivers:

IE still makes my card go to 3D speed, but luckily I NEVER use IE.

Even though it listed WiC boosts in SLI, with my single GTX 260 in WIC I am seeing up to 5-13% increases in WiC DX 10

What are these optimizations? is the 10 % performance increases by sacrificing image quality? I use 169.xx drivers for that reason all 17x.xx drivers cheat with texture sharpness :(

Operating System: Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition

Single GPU increases up to 11% in 3DMark Vantage (performance preset)

Well, that's a bit misleading, how can you have a performance improvement in something that doesn't run on the OS at all?

Hi everyone.

I just purchased a GTX 260 Superclocked+ yesterday and installed it today. The first and only drivers I installed were these 177.92. Downclocking appears to NOT be working for me. I am idling at my stock 3D clocks of 621/1296/1026. I am about 54c like this. I would love to have to downlock properly so I can be in the 40's for idle. That would be very sweet indeed, especially on the hydro bill.

Is there any way to force downlocking when it doesn't do it automatically?

How does downclocking work if you play your games WINDOWED? I always have a web browser open on the other monitor so if i click and bring it to the foreground will it downclock then resume stock clock when i click back to the game?

Or does it detect that a game is still running in the background and keep the clock up?

Horrible for SLI in DX9 - keep crashing in Crysis and Warhead. A nice bump in frame rate if you're running a single card in either of those games, though.

By downclocking I assume you guys mean you're just setting the 2D clocks to a lower setting? I'd like to see an answer on VulcaN's questions and I'm also curious as to what effect having the 2d/3d clocks be different for someone like me who is a habitual alt-tabber
