178.13 Drivers are out

Seems there are some preformance increases from these. I hope this doesn't outdate all the work Brent just did on that article!

Just installed them, tried a couple of things out, CoD4, Lost Planet EC, don't see performance boost for 3x SLI but of course nothing was in the release notes about 3x SLI.

Wow... after I spent 2 hours last night going through tons of beta drivers.

I'm going to try this right now. Thanks for the link. :)

Don't thank me, thank Kyle for the link on the front page, for some reason he didn't add a comments to it, so I tossed this up so we can throw around the increases we get.

Gotta love new drivers.... these 177.92 drivers were getting a bit long in the tooth. :D

Yay! Something to mess with when I get home.:p

I should also work on my sig.

'tis the nature of computers, i doubt there are any earth shattering differences

Well, their release notes are claiming 10-15% differences, some people on EVGA were claiming more, we'll just have to wait and see I suppose. I'll be installing them shortly, but I don't normally play with a frame counter and recording the results :p

Actually these drivers do downclock perfectly. They really are quite awesome!

Due in October

Using the new driver, I got between 0 and 5% improvement from my 8800GT.
edit: on XP32, E8400 @ 4.1GHz so no CPU bottleneck.

it seems that these did not fix the problem that i had with the beta drivers, so back to 175's i go..

whenever i boot with these i see my desktop for about 5 seconds then my computer hard locks and the screen goes to some crazy blue/pink epilepsy flashing.. lol

i'll have to install these and try 'em out with cod 4... that was the only game preventing me from running the latest betas.

They seem to look worse than the previous set with the colors being very washed out and Digital Vibrance in XP SP3 is not working. If you have time compare with color on 177.79, I went back to those and Warhead, DiRT, Grid look much more vibrant with Digital Vibrance set at 50%.

Somethings not right with your setup if you need 50% vibrance!
I have to agree that with the new drivers, Digital Vibrance doesnt work for me on XP32 either.

well these fixed the memory leaks from the 177.83 drivers. now task manager shows 1.83gb ram being used while playing Clear Sky where it was 2.16 gb before. also total memory usage during DX9 Warhead is down well below 2gb too. I may just give my roommate back his 1gb that I "borrowed" fom his comp since it looks like I can get by with just 2 gigs again.

They broke Vsync for me, had to do a complete clean up and reinstall 177.41 to get it back.

Nothing to do with my setup, but more personnel preference I would say...Many PC games have drab colors by design so by setting this level of DV it just looks better IM(humble)O.

Nothing wrong in setting it up to your tastes. :)

Wow, I have the same exact issue. And from what I can see in your sig, we have almost an identical computer. Although im still using a 7950x2.

Sucks but im glad im not the only one lol.

What is your display?

If connected via HDMI/DVI check that it has the right setting for TV vs. computer display. I remember that causing poor colour on another person's setup.

Ok so no longer is Nvidia Control Panel On the right click menu in windows and in the PhysX all options except "No Acceleration" are grayed out. Weird...

I'll take a couple FPS here and there when I can get it. Hopefully that'll be the case. I will take note of Digital Vibrance. Don't have it set very high - 20%, but it does help with the crap, backlight-bleeding 22" monitor I'm using. Its washed out enough as it is without the graphics driver adding to it.

DV can be set using RivaTuner if it's broken on XP. ;)

Thanks, and it is "broken". RiverTuner does work though (just wish it showed a numeric value there). I do seem to have a few more FPS - just tested it in Oblivion at 1680x1050 and in seems about 2- 4 FPS faster in similar situations (using "TDT" command in the console).

bad, still running full clock during video playback like the previous beta craps

Mine don't downclock at all... do I need to do something extra to decrease the clock speeds in desktop mode?

I'm having same problem as some posters above-some weird lines during vista startup, then a quick hard lock and blue screen.
I can't figure out how to get these drivers out before vista auto reinstalls them, even in safe mode.
Can anyone help please?

Thansk for the tip, had already tried that. Problem is windows is pulling the old driver with the currepted/bugged file out of the system32 driver repository, and for the life of me haven't been able to give myself, even under hidden admin, the access to delete that file so vista would stop installing it automatically at startup.

Well, 2 days of using these and COD -4 has crashed 4 times....Its always when there is a lot of explosions or flashes on the screen....if I get flash banged, instant crash...
it will pink screen and freeze my system....
I guess I'm going back to my old ones..

Downclock perfectly? eVGA Precision shows my 9800GX2 @ full bore (602MHz) sitting here at desktop...

Unless that's because Vista uses a 3D desktop so it runs full throttle all the time?

The GT200 series downclock while in 2D. Your GX2 can if you use RivaTuner and create 2D/3D short cuts with clock speeds of your setting.
