Yes another one of those threads.

I have another thread about dual link KVM switches but got another idea... I have a PS3 I want to hook up to my monitor but the component in on my 244T is crap and DVI switching is a pain (manually or thus otherwise finding a good cheap switch). So idea! Get a monitor that has DVI and HDMI input's.

So coming from a 244T what can someone reccomend to either replace the 244T or use along side it? I currenlty have my Samsung 930BF which I have been meanign to get on a LCD arm so I can pull it out in front when I want to use it for games because that thing has no ghosting or lag that I can sense. But if I can get something to replace it and run along side my 244T that would work as well.

so basic requirments.

1. Minimal to no ghosting: 244T has acceptable but i would like better
2. Better input lag then the 244T (would love something with input lag like my 930BF)
3. Vesa 100mm compatible
4. DVI and HDMI inputs (a good component input wouldnt hurt as well)
5. 24" if replacing the 244T - 22"-24" if going in addition to.
6. Most importantly it has to be non glossy matte screen.

I was looking at that NEC but it is far too rich for my blood right now. Samusng 245T is close but has a weird 200x100 vesa mount and read it has some other issues that i cant remember right now and I cant find it readily availible anywhere. If someone knows where I can get the 245T and a 200x100 to 100x100 vesa adapter with a pixel warranty then that may be my ticket.

Also I looked at the T240 Samsungs but they dont have vesa mounts (other then the non existant adapter that is apparently sold "somewhere").

Budget is no more then a 245T =D

This is all available at tftcentral.co.uk. As you can see, the non-VESA T240 shares the same panel as the VESA compatible 2443BW/X. I do not believe these Samsung panels have 1:1 pixel mapping for PS3 1080p output. The Dell S2409W and BenQ E2400HD have been discussed on this forum as decent to good 16:9 native 24" displays. Both are VESA and will display 1080p natively. As you can see all of these displays use modern TN panels except for the 245T which you have been using. All of these monitors fall below the pricepoint of the 245T. You may find higher end IPS or *VA panels in that price range, however I cannot say how suitable they are for gaming. Many have more noticeable input lag and higher pixel response times.

I'm looking for a $250-300 24" monitor and am considering the Samsung 2443BWX, Dell S2409 (LG W2442PA) and BenQ G2400WD. The Samsung and Dell have higher priorities because they're available at local shops (Samsung at Office Depot, Dell at Staples). The Samsung has the highest priority because it's 1920x1200 and not 1920x1080.

Thanks! I beleive my 244T did 1:1 pixel mapping when I had my PS3 hooked up via hdmi-dvi cable however I will check into that a bit more on the two you mentioned above.

So the Dell and the Benq are both 1920x1080? I guess if I get this as a second monitor it would be ok to have a 16:9 resolution. How would these look with 720i/p inputs? I know my 244T did not scale very well.

EDIT: I just realized the 2400HD is the 1080 res.

Also forgot to mention that I absolutely can not have a glossy screen. Will edit the first post requirements.

Just FYI, the T240HD does NOT have VESA mounting. The T240 does.

According to samsungs spec page http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...subtype=lcd&model_cd=LS24TWHSUV/ZA&fullspec=F the T240 does not support wall mounting which I assume to mean no vesa mount on the back.

Bolt - Where did you get these specs?? the only site i know is LCDtech or whaever its called and it only has a few models this site looks like it may have more and more current ones. Link would be great thanks.

Ok looked into it. The current Samsung TN panels dont seem to have 1:1 pixel mapping so that is a no go. Couple other things ive read seems to suggest the Benq's are best for movie viewing and console's and such so I think im going to get the G2400WD here http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31200&vpn=G2400WD&manufacture=BENQ (I also prefer NCIX and this is one of the only ones I could find on the list above)

To confirm though... Does it support 1:1 pixel mapping and does it have a Vesa 100x100 mount?

Thanks =D

The T240 does not have VESA mounts. Look at a picture of the back.

The syntax of your post made it sound like it does, but I guess you meant that the other monitor which uses the same panel is.

In any event, I have the T240HD and it is most certainly not VESA mountable. It does, however, have 1:1 pixel mapping.

I wonder if the other one has pixel mapping or if its just the T-Series or just the HD model that has it...

Confirmed the Benq does support vesa http://store.benq.us/benq-us/product.aspx?sku=3877816&section_id=566&culture=en-US and its waaaaay lighter then my 244T so my LCD arm will thank me.

"Recommended" 24" LCDs with VESA

1920x1200
BenQ G2400WD
Samsung 2443BW/X

1920x1080 (these all use the same panel with varying electronics, etc)

Dell S2409W
LG W2442PA-BF
BenQ E2400HD

I believe all of them have DVI and/or HDMI. All of the 1920x1080 have HDMI. The Samsung does not have HDMI. BenQ G2400WD has HDMI and supports 1920x1080 1:1 pixel mapping.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was trying to decide between the Samsung and the BenQ and the choice was just made. I am placing my order (pricematched ;)) from NCIX.com with some ION HDMI cables after I type this.

Thanks =D

I believe all of the T series have 1:1.I do not believe the 2443 does. It does not say so on their website, so I can't confirm, but without an HDMI port I would bet it does not.

Ive read a few places the 2443 is like my 244T. Has a option in the OSD menu on how to scale and one of the options does to 1:1 pixel mapping. But with no HDMI port it doesnt meet my requirments so thats a moot point =D

The BenQ G2400WD seems like a popular choice, but isn't it pretty dark at maximum brightness? 250 candelas doesn't quite seem enough, especially after staring at my laptop LED screen which is around 350-400.

I always game in a darker enviroment so thats not a concern. I also have my 244T and 930BF at about 40-50% max brightness.

Well the only real concern with that is LCD's tend to fade with age so the higher the inital brightness the better. I noticed this when I had my 930BF for a year and got a new Dell LCD (which I had compared when I first bought the 930BF) and the 930BF looked much darker in comparison though when it was new they were very close.

w00t price match accepted. $318.18 CDN =D

Will be here tomorow or thursday. Will post pics when I also get my new LCD arm.

OK well I got the monitor and its all setup up now and I am very happy with it (other then two stuck pixels). Thanks for the help guys! =D

Now I just need to solve all my other problems that popped up in this ordeal... (Will never buy a creative sound card again)

Why does the color look so dead? Give us a colorful picture on 100% brightness, please?

If you had clicked the link...
http://pics.livejournal.com/bun_bun/gallery/0001q9eh (Out of box settings, I havent changed anything most of the pics are with it connected to my PS3,)

Many reasons the color looks dead. 1. the pics in the post (not in the link) are taken with my preffered setting of brightness of about 50-60% 2. Strong flash on camera 3. Ugly yellow paint on the walls make everything look bad... 4. background used on pics in post (not in link) is not a very colorful background. 5. I didn't set my white balance exactly so pictures are a little cooler looking then real life 6. haven't mastered taking pics of monitors :p

EDIT:

This monitor has the best back light bleed and backlight consitency of any TN I have seen (though I will admit I haven't seen as many as some of you on here have :p) which pains me to send it back due to the two stuck shown in the last pic in that link. Hopefully the new one will be just as good or better =D

Any further pics will have to be taken once my replacement gets here.
