I am building a new rig with dual GTX 275s in SLI and would like dual monitors.

My preference is 24" with 1920x1200 resolution. My primary use is for development but I dabble in gaming. I guess I am really looking for a monitor that is decent all-around.

I keep reading about the high level of input lag in the 2408wfp and how great the 2209wa is. To me, the drawback to the 2209wa is that it is a bit smaller than I prefer and lower resolution.

Would the 2408wfp be ok or is it worth waiting for the U2410 to hit the United States? The HP 2475w seems excellent but it is too costly. Are there other choices I should consider? I am trying to spend $400 or less ea.

Thank you

The best overall would be 2408wfp for you. And I think you meant 1920x1200. For mostly development, that would be the monitor I would go for.

Im in the same shoes as you but less on development and more on gaming. Im looking at the 2408wfp personally as the U2410 will be expensive in the beginning and the 2209wa doesnt have as much screen real estate.

I would wait for the U2410, see how much it goes for. At the very least, it should serve to drive 2408WFP prices down (thogh they can be had for around $400 after coupon).

Just wait for the U2410, it has to be comming (available) in the US any day now, Dell would not want to loose the Windows 7 sales fever when it starts.

  Tim

I wonder, though, if Dell will stop selling the 2408WFP once the U2410 is available in the US. Seems plausible if they are "selling off their quantities of the 2408's before they start offering the U2410".

If you think LP2475w is too costly, then there is no need to wait for U2410, which will most likely be even more expensive.

Given your budget, what you should pick depends on your preferences. Hate over-saturated colors above all? Get 24" or 26" standard-gamut TN monitors. Hate poor viewing angles above all? Get 2408WFP. Hate both? Pay up whatever Dell asks for U2410.

That seems to be what happened in Australia: Dell stopped selling 2408WFP within a week of shipping U2410.

How about 2 2209WA's? I rather have dual screens for dev work then a single slightly larger 24inch screen.

I'd go with a 2408WFP for work and a Samsung 2494HM for gaming. They're both 24 inch screens but one is for professional work, and the other is for low input lag gaming.

good call going with two different monitors for dif purposes, never thought of that.
