What kind of frame rates should I expect with this card on 1680x1050 with Counterstrike Source and maxed settings?

about the same as your X1800xt since CS:S benefits more from a faster cpu. :)

Before upgrading my monitor to a 1680x1050 LCD, I wondered the same thing too. I have a GeForce 7900 GS. With the new monitor, games ran a bit slower. Then I overclocked the card, and now I'm running games even faster than when I was using 1280x960. :) Just overclock your card, it should be OK.

Advantage of the 8800's over any other cards atm you can use 16x csq aa without doing anything in the driver panel its actually listed in the drop down box in game. My mate has a 640 8800gts and he runs it maxed out (16x cs q aa 16xaf etc) at 1680x1050 with a amd x2 4200+ and he gets about 85 fps average in the test.

fwiw, I was able to run DoD:S with everything maxed out at 1680x1050. I even turned on vsync (was having some tearing), it held a solid 60fps and never budged, and looks smooth as butter. With Vsync off it was 80+ with crap on screen.

I'd suggest you upgrade your cpu. I upgraded my cpu from a Pentium D 805 @3750mhz to a core 2 duo 6400 and saw more then double the fps (120-250fps) at 1600x1200 using a 7900gt. I dont think you'll see much of an improvement going with a 8800gts.

I get between 80-200 depending on the level of course on a 7900GS OC at the same resolution, both vid card and CPU unlocked and overclocked

So Overclock then later Core 2 Duo and then a new Video Card?

That sound good to you guys?
