I've got an oppertunity to get my hands on an FX53 for $100. I've already got a 3500+ that oc to 2.5 with the stock fan. Is it worth it to get the FX and oc it for the price? Isn't an FX53 pretty much a 4000+?

The FX-53 is a Clawhammer core, so it probably won't OC as well as a San Diego/Venice core, nor will it handle memory as well. However, it does have unlocked multipliers, has a stronger than your average Clawhammer memory controller, and can handle higher voltages easier on it's 130nm process.

For $100, I'd buy the FX-53 and sell your 3500+ and end up being paid to use the FX. ;)

I bet, if you wanted to, you could buy the FX and even sell it for a higher price... I would get the FX, it's basically a 4000+

Unless it is Socket 940.. What socket is it?

Its a socket 939, so I think I'll probably go for it. :D

How much more do you think I could turn around and sell it for?

Probably could get $300-$400 for it, more maybe.
