what do you guys think? I have a friend building a new rig and he's finding both of these to be about the same price. From what I remember the 3500 has 512 L2 and the 3700 has 1mb, but then they have the same clock speed. The price difference is only a few dollars, but he is looking at a retail 3500 and oem 3700(60 day warranty from monarch).

TIA

I'm a fan of the venice core so I say 3500+, maybe easier to overclock. I've never had the chance to overclock a san diego.

According to a review I read somewhere on bleedinedge.com, the 3700+ outperformed the 3500+ at stock speeds. But not by a significant margin. The reviewer said the 3700+ is more like a 3550 or 3600 at best. But hey, if you can get them for almost the same price, you might as well take the extra cache. This is a no-brainer IMO, esp. if you take overclocking out of the equation (not that I'm implying Venice OCs better than San Diego).
