well I just ran 3DMark06 on my new setup and I was wondering if these are the expected results for my setup.

MSI P6N FI SLI motherboard
Intel E6600 core 2 duo (stock)
2gigs of ram
8800GTS 320 mb

I ran the test at 1280x1024 without any AA or AF. Just straight forward 1280x1024

The results were:

SM2.0 = 3407
HDR/SM3.0 = 3610
CPU = 2172

If it's not evident let me be the first to say it...I'm a complete noob. I just want to make sure that my system's performing properly. It just seems to me like it's not quite up to what I expected. THANKS for the input. let me know if there's anything else I need to do to help you help me make sure my system's performing optimally.

That seems low to me, what was your overall score? I can squeeze 5600 out of my e4300 and 7900GS with a moderate o/c.

I don't know I just put down what it showed me at the end. I'll run the test again maybe with some overclocking and let you know.

yeah I'm definaitly up to date on the drivers. I was having a problem getting Splinter Cell Double Agent to work properly and ended up updating my driver several times trying to get it to work.

alright well I just re-ran the 3DMark with a decent o/c. I set the graphics card at 600/900. The overall 3DMark score was 9103 and the CPU was 2348. I think the CPU was better this time because last time I was running winamp too. So...what'cha think?

no that almost perfectly what you should be getting. the composite is around 9000 3dmarks right? I have almost the exact setup you do...same mobo... and 320mb 8800gts. If I clock my cpu to equal an e6600 and disable sli (I have 2 8800gts 320mb) I get 9200... so your dead on man.

Yeah, 9k is way better than what I thought you were getting. For some reason, my scores never add up to what the total is. My last run was 2213 & 2179 for SM2&3 and 2601 for the CPU, total = 5621 so :confused:

Oh yah, that e6600 was made to overclock so don't be shy :cool:

You'll have to forgive my total noobness, but what are the advantages of oc'ing you're processor? I know it'll make apps and stuff load up faster but will it help graphics or gaming at all other than just load times?

cpu helps with EVERYTHING... im serious you should oc the crap out of that 6600 man. (dont break it of course) but its such a resilient cpu its great for starting out learning how OC its hard to kill.

hmm...I actually have a Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler too that I could use to keep the temps down even more. The only reason I don't have it on is because when I put my setup together it wouldn't fit onto the CPU without hitting the ughhh.....something purple cooler. It was purple if I recall correctly. Either way. I should definaitly install that. I should get a bump in graphics as well? Is there a program I could use to OC it other than just going through BIOS? What would you guys recommend?

There's a great sticky in the oc forums you should check out. Everything is done through BIOS, and you can ask questions there if there is anything you don't understand.

I have similar spec's, but I was able to get 11500 from my 8800 GTS. The difference is my processor is clocked at 3.5GHZ and my videocard is at 670/1900

is your 8800GTS a 320mb or a 640mb? if it's a 320, how'd you get the memory to clock up to 1900?? The highest I can get mine to go and be even remotely close to stable is 960.

update: I checked out your sig. it's a 640.

I may be wrong here (wouldn’t be the first time), but since it’s DDR (dual data rate) memory, your 960 would actually be 1920 MHz effective. Not sure on this though, anyone?

I'm running my GTS 320 at 1008.

3DMark06 score is actually very dependent on the cpu. If you drop a quad core in there you're score will probably go up at least 1000 points.

I have my E6400@ 3.46ghz, and my GTS at 675/1566/1008 (core/shader/mem) and I'm scoring just over 11,000 in 3dmark06. You have to figure CPU score counts for 1 part out of 3 it figures in for a good chunk of the score.

The score should be about 8000 for AMD X2 4600+ 8800GTS and about 9000 for C2D systems and then you gain about 10-20% with a good overclock.

I am having some weirdness with my just built pc and was wondering why I was getting such low scores in 3dmark06

my pc:
8800gts 640mb evga overclocked via rivatuner to 692\1602\1010
evga 680i mobo
e6750 @ 2.66 (not overclocked)
2x1024 crucial ballistix memory

my 3dmark score is
3DMark Score 8609 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3856 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 3750 Marks
CPU Score 2243 Marks

I think this is lower than it should be even though I am running windows vista ultimate x64..

any thoughts??

I've just bought a new system and have been wondering about it's performance so I tried 3DMark06...

3DMark only lists One 8800GTS 640mb card, where as I am running Two. I've tried in SLI and non-SLI mode, and this does not change. The scores in SLI mode are better than non-enabled;

3D : 11581
SM2.0 : 4496
SM3.0 : 5396
CPU : 3408

Do these seem reasonable?

Also, 3DMark only shows 3077 mb of RAM, when I infact have 4GB DDR2 RAM (only 667)...???

Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @2.40GHz (Stock speeds)
Nvidia GeForce 640mb 8800GTS X2 (Stock speeds)
P6N SLI V2/ Ultra Motherboard
2 x SCSII 360mb Hard Drives
4 GB DDR2 RAM (667)
Vista 32

How do I enable the DUALCORE CENTER program to show the motherboard clocking/voltages. It Only shows the VGA settings, and the Start-up BIOS shows Dynamic OverClocking DISABLED (When I enable this it seems to crash a lot, but I can't find where to access Core Temps/Voltages/Frequencies...???):confused::confused:

Thanks Guys
