So, I currently have a Samsung 2443BWX 24" LCD at 1920x1200. It is a great display for my uses, but I always want something new to play with.

I can pick up 3 20" LCDs for $269 shipped. Each is 1600x900. My plan would be to mount them all vertically.

For a video card I have an HD6970. My other option would just be picking up another 24" monitor, but it looks like the newer samsung displays don't really match my current one. I think it would look ugly to have two different monitors.

This one looks the closes in terms of bezel design, but then I would have one LCD and one LED

What do you mean by vertically?
3x1 Portrait? 1x3 Landscape? 3x1 Landscape with the 24" on top?

If you're wanting to go 3x1 Portrait, both of those monitors are TN, and that doesn't exactly work. When you look left to right you get a weird shift in contrast, black to white.

I would either keep the 24" or sell the 24" and buy 3x 20"

If I got the 20" displays I would like to mount all three in portrait. Was not aware of the contrast shift. Maybe I should rotate my 24" and see how it goes.

Just did some quick reading and it looks like I can pick up older Dell 2007WFP displays with an IPS panel for $135 each on ebay. Maybe that would be the route to go as long as the seller can verify if it is an IPS, and not a PVA.

Nothing wrong with PVA, better than TN!! ALSO don't forget Craigslist. I just bought a Viewsonic 120HZ 22" VX2268 for $150
