Hello,

My cousin and I ordered components to build two complete PCs minus monitors.
For his PSU it was decided on an Antec Earthwatts 430w PSU.

This is what he picked out for his setup.
e2180
Gigabyte DS3L
Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2X1GB
BFG 8800GT OC2 512MB
Western Digital 320GB 7200RPM with XP Home
Logitech G5
Logitech Office Pro Keyboard
Coolermaster CM 690
Pioneer DVR-212D
and
Antec Earthwatts 430w power supply

This system will be on 24/7 used for WoW, other games ,browsing and other internet activity. I think it will be pretty solid for these specs, is there any concern with using a "small" power supply with a build like this? We are planning on lightly overclocking the CPU in a few months or sooner depending on how well the system runs.

I don't know about the Earthwatts...but I do know that the Antec True Power Trio series have a very high failure rate.

How much is he paying for that psu? If it's above $50...then I would suggest him to pick up a Corsair HX520.

Your earthwatts 430 should be just fine :)

He paid $56 for it and I chose the HX520 for my build in my sig :)

At staples??

Dunno about that 8800Gt but its running my 3850 pretty easily.

Its got decent rails:
+5 20A
+3 20A
+12V1 17A
+12V2 17A

But if IRC correctly one review said that its actually only one 12v rail. Ill see if I can find the link again

I have the Earthwatts 380W version of that PSU in a secondary system (BTW, newegg has it for $20AR with free shipping right now). Mine has an E4300 @ 3GHz, overclocked 6800GTO, 2GB, 16x DVD burner and 320GB 7200.10 attached. The 8800GT OC only uses ~10-20W more than the 6800GTO.

The Earthwatts PSUs do have dual 12v output rails. http://www.antec.com/us/pro_p_EarthWatts.php

I don't count more than 20A max on the 12V rails for either system (plus whatever fans you have) even with air-cooled overclocking. The 430W version has a maximum rating of 360W (30A) on 12V and the 380W version has a maximum rating of 324W (27A) on 12V. Good enough.

It will be fine. Run an O/Ced Quad and and an O/Ced 8800GT on a corsair VX450 unit which is a Seasonic built unit. I think the earth watts are also Built by Seasonic.
