well all I just installed the Arctic Cooling AcelleroS1 Revision2 cooler on my Asus 4850. It had decent fan control software but was loud as he11. I used a full Arctic cooling solution here, the S1 Rev.2 a 120mm Artic cooling fan and acrtic cooling MX-2 thermal paste. here are real world performance results.

Idle 53c now 35c
COD4: stock cooling 73c with accerlero s1 Rev.2 46c
DOD:S stock cooling 65c with acellero s1 Rev.2 42c

The 120mm fan just runs at 1500rpm and is one of the quietest fans in my case.

Very happy with the performance.

The only issue I have is that the ac instruction and heatsinks did not have the correct pieces for the job. I had to re-use a few things from teh stock set.

The performance is awesome but not for for junior users.

Got similiar setup, Asus 4850 with Accelero S1 + 120mm fan, idles around ~36c and with furmark it goes around 50c.

Dunno how this accelero works for 4870, but it's like made for 4850 :)

ps. I used the original thermal paste that came with the accelero.
