Well currently in my system I have 4gb of ram (4x1gb) but the system only reads 3gb (i know the reasons etc) so my question is - since windows only sees 3gb, should I just pull out 1gb stick then?

Thanks in advance

No. If you pull out one stick then you're no longer running in dual channel mode, and you will lose the--albeit marginal--performance advantage.

That won't necessarily help. My notebook has 4GB of RAM that is still only detected as 3.25GB under 64-bit Vista. The problem with my notebook is the chipset.

Actually it's the BIOS not having a memory remapping option. I have the same problem with my Dell.
