I'm looking for HardOCP's 5870 Crossfire review but I can't find it. I've been trying to search for it using the article search function but no direct link found yet. Can someone sticky it please? Also would you add to the sorting function, a list article by review date? So we can just hunt for the most recent articles? Thanks. Considering you have all these options for search by manufacturer it can probably be done, right?

it's fast, having 3 5870's to test with see almost 100% scaling in games it works well in like Farcry2 and not so great in games like Crysis. New Operation Flashpoint pushes almost 100fps fully maxed, so it rocks for that, ARMA 2 is almost playable now *sigh*

Having so many AMD ATI launches unexpectedly back-to-back, I had to push it back. There is a launch coming this week you won't want to miss.

I've learned to just wait a year or two or three when new games come out to play them. that way I can play them right.

Bad side-effect of this though is that I still haven't gotten around to Quake 4 or any of the FEAR games.

But at least the games are pocket change by that time... (Although I still bought most games on release to support the devs...)

(2) 5870's will cost you $760 bucks...

(1) 295 will cost you $500 bucks...

The [H] especially puts heavy weight on price -vs- performance...

Mr. Kyle Bennett has made that abundantly clear to me. :D

I am so looking forward to how the performance -vs- price gets written about, when they throw the 295 into the review too, costing $260 less than the 5870 crossfire rig.

The [H]'s 5870 crossfire review will make for a good read. :)
I think (2) 5870's will beat a single 295, but I am wondering by how much.

The 5870 is also DX11, but we need more games to take advantage of that. I do hope we see numerous DX11 games released soon.

If anything, they would compare the 295 to 5850 Crossfire.

That can only be the 5870X2 :D Because who gives two pisses about the low end crap the 5700 series  That's great AMD is offering performance for price, but this is the [H]ard site, and with a comment like that it better be the top dog

If the 5870X2 is revealed this week, I hope the 9.10 official drivers are coming soon, my Brother needs the Linux support

/facepalm, failure post. The 5700 series is going to completely replace the 4870/4850 and possibly the 4890. Who gives a piss? I would say about 90% of the users on this forum.

90% of the users on this forum don't want anything more budget oriented than a 5850.

Exactly, this is the [H]ard forums. Now 90% of the buying public Joe blow of course wants the value card, that's where the money is made, not on the these high end 5870's. But then I wouldn't post on this forum if it wasn't always [H]ard :D

Might be the 5870x2 ;) was playing with it all last week and let me tell you its the fastest card ever :D.
Returned back to the original guy cause of Beta bios, but even with beta bios and i can tell you will blow everything out of the water when released.
Just a taste of 5870x2 this one was clocked at 800/1200, could not push it more (Bios) i guess.

i7940 3.9Ghz Win 7 64bit
Resident Evil 5 2560x1600 everthing maxed 8xAA 117FPS, Fixed Bench
Street Fighter 4 2560x1600 8xAA, 224FPS

Compared to my 295GTX same setting; RE5 67.2FPS, SF4 103.34FPS

We are talking twice as fast as 295GTX

I'll tell you what.............

I installed an XFX 5870 yesterday...........son-of-a-bitch:eek::eek::eek:

Now I'm not some kind of benchmark freek..........but I did some run-throughs of FEAR2,Reborn and FarCry2(used Ranch medium).

I compared the 5870 to my prior set up of GTX 285s in SLi, exact same settings..........exact same machine.......latest drivers.

FarCry2: 1920 x 1200 5870 Ave FPS: 125, Minimum FPS: 55 versus the SLi of 65 and 34.

FEAR2 , I don't have the exact numbers in front of me (my memory is failing, I think) but they were similar.

I mean this 5870 is really the schizzle, I was considering CrossfireX but at these numbers I wonder if it's even necessary.

What I like the most is the real increase in minimum FPS.
The games were smooth as butter, and look, I am a long time nvidiot.......believe me.:D

Hope you aren't bullshitting because if you aren't, you just gave me a reason to wait for it. Now as long as it's $499 or less, I'm in. Given the fact that 2 5850s are $520 and 2 5870s are $760. To make it worthwhile, they need to make it maybe even $449 if possible.

I dont see hows that possible ? with the drivers atm at least, and with lower clocks for the 5870x2 that looks impossible/impressive (would love to be wrong tbh  )

P.S gamingarena23, you play on garena server or i'm wrong?

Did an RE5 bench too to compare because I dunno if I should be getting better or what.

Variable test: Everything High w/ 8xAA along with Motion Blur, 1920x1080

136.1avg FPS

and 147.8avg FPS for the Fixed one.

Thats good?! I have yet to figure out what the hell are good fps for RE5, but considering that 2560x1600 post above avg's 117fps I think I should have a bigger jump than this... :(

And I have pictures if you guys want them.

Huh? If it's faster than 5850 Crossfire, then you can expect it to be at the very least $550. Considering the price of a single 5870, I'm betting on $600.

I too would like more info on this matter. I've always been a nvidia guy. I was going to run evga 295 ftws in my Project Slumber Parties build, but after totally up the gpus bloodrage, enermax 1050 psu, and the i975 extreme I came in just under 3k shipped. Thats a bit much and I would be looking at first of summer 2010 to end of summer 2010 for completion.

I just ran into the HD5870 tonight and I've been trying to find comparisons of the ATI 5870 vs the gtx 295 FTW and I keep coming up short. From my reading ATI is dropping a new card on us Q4 09 which appeared to be a Quad gpu card. So in turn the above statements of HD 5870 X2 makes sense. Keep us updated on any findings I would like to know more on the matter as I would like to lock down my gpus.

I've seen the 5850 only 10 fps behind the gtx295 in a few benchmarks already, and the card barely launched, and can only improve as drivers mature. At this point in the game, the gtx295 shouldn't be in the conversation, nor should the 285, or 280. GTX275 and GTX260 maybe, if there are deals to be had.

techpowerup has 5870 cf review. 5870 cf wins 19 of 19 games vs gtx 295, most by a long shot. Any 5800x2 variant will be more than $500 I am sure.

True, but if AMD/ATI really wants to put the pressure on nVidia, if they can meet $499 then it's over. Who cares what nVidia releases, since you know it's gonna be expensive. And that would probably with the single GPU card.

Trust me it's real i have pix the bios shows up as ATI 5900, its damn impressive card.
Who ever waits for it will be blown away, well take a look at 5870 crossfire and that's what you get with 5870x2 dead even tested back and forth like 1-3% slower for x2 then crossfire might be the drivers.

So the fps are same like 2x 5870? nicee! wonder what can this card do in month or 2 when the drivers get at least decent,scaling/crossfire is to low in some tittles atm.

well the thing is the x2 cards are only for hard core people that already don't give a f*** about money, they want performance, ati is not going to release a card that is double the horse power of hd 5870 and for only 100 bucks more, ain't happening, but wishful thinking doesn't hurt anyone, althoug you would see 499 for the 5850 x2 variant and probably 599 for the hd 5870x2 variant, the best you will see is 549, that is still saving money over 2 ha 5870's even if they were 300 when the x2 launched. because they would not simply wanna piss people off who could have gotten double the performance for 100 bucks more, not actually double but you know what I mean.

I agree. Usually the X2's are approx 75% faster than the single xx70 cards. I would guess once the 5870X2 is released maybe next month, the standard 5870 single card will get a slight price break to $349 each. I know this math never works, but lets just say 75% more than $350 is $612, I could realistically see the 5870X2 selling for $599 at launch, never more. But that would be for the 2gb model. Now the one I would like the rumored 4gb model, will be a higher price point I am sure. Unless AMD completely surprise us and just make a 4gb model only, which I would love, but I doubt it ?
