How would 2 4890's in sli stack up against a 5870? And how well would a 4890 do against the 5850? Just curious, looking at maybe picking up another 4890 and sli'ing it or just canning that idea, selling it, and picking up a 5850 or a 5870. Been looking for some benchmarks and some comparisons. thanks guys.

Never saw a review yet also with 4890s crossfired vs 5870. I know it might be faster but i want to see the margins and details.

I'd say the CF 4890's would probably hold a FPS average lead, but I'm not so sure they would beat the min FPS and image quality of the 5870. CF 4890s is basically a 4870x2 on roids, and we know the scores of 4870x2 vs 5870.

i would say that 2x4890 would hold its own against a 5870. maybe not after the 5870's mature a bit though.

But your forgetting that 4890/s make one hell of a heater on those cold nights.

i went from 4890 CF to a single 5870 and i couldnt be happier

If you look on techpowerup.com, they have an older test of 4890cf. I used that to compare to the 5870 posted review there. The 4890s have more fps overall, but not by much.

even if it have more fps, it doesn't mean the game experiences are the same..

I came from 4890CF/GTX 295 to 5870, and I have to say I am glad I did that move...

Do the games you play scale well in CF? unless you can pick up the second card for next to nothing the 58xx would be a better bet

Just because the 4890s have higher average frame rates now, doesn't mean they will in the future, with driver optimization.s

The 5870 is effectively two 4890s (due to the amount of shaders as well as frequency) with the exception of the much lower bandiwidth.

In addition higher average frames rates (4890 crossfire) doesn't mean they will have higher minimum frame rates.

But then again I am biased, I already have two 4890s.

opps, your asking about 1 one 5870.

Never mind. I thought you were asking about 5870 crossfire performance.

My bad. Post deleted.
