Are most Linux Distros 64 bit now? I have a an amd 3500 would like to try 64 bit and linux

Sure.

Check out Ubuntu LiveCD before you install though. It will most likely run just fine, but it dont hurt to check first.

only problem with going 64Bit is FLASH and REAL

both are closed-source and only 32bit
so if you do go 64bit you might have to install the 32bit libs and a 32bit version of Firefox

saying that hardly anyone uses REAL and FLASH will have V9 out for linux in the new year (present version for win is 8.5 and for linux 7!!!) and Adobe says a 64bit version will follow

Yup - It's annoying that Macromedia Flash is 32 bit only because all distros will install 64 bit version of Firefox which does not work with 32 bit version of Flash. I wish I knew how to load Debian 64 with Firefox 32/Flash 32.
