ok my Enermax 620 has been in RA for over a month now - im told that theres a prob getting it sourced back down under (australia) so i could be looking at a credit or a replacement in ~3weeks. its BS but...

so heres wat im looking at:

either use my credit and get a Silverstone 600 modular for roughly the same price.

or:

get a one of those brand spanking new 750w models.

Thermaltake ToughPower 750 or the OCZ ?

any thoughts?

im windering if TT have raised the bar on the PSUs - so far no reviews available.

If you can get the XG Duro in AUS you might consider it also. Very well built and very stout PSU.

What is your system, I doubt you need 750W, or even the 620W you had before. More likely then not, a good 450W or 500W supply would run your system.

OCZ GameXStream 600W / 700W FTW

QFT. It's basically the same thing as the Fotron Epsilon except for the color, packaging and the warrranty. I don't know about Australian retailers but Newegg has the OCZ GameXStream for about $120 with rebate (less than the Fortron 600W). It should power your system perfectly and is cheaper than the liberty. But if you are looking for modular you should just get the Silverstone.

Thermaltake resells different manufacturers, some of which are junk.

OCZ only resold Topwer and now FSP, both of which are good to great.

So in other words, OCZ resells different manufacturers too. ;)

All the ToughPower series are being certified at NVIDIA and ATI right now (Except 550W, which is already certified and available). After they've been certified, I'm sure you'll get your hands on one.

I need something definitely above the 550 range.

If you'll look at my sig, you'll see that I have a 550, I can't add ANY more items as the system becomes unstable to the point of failing to make it to the OS loading screen.

I have 3 hard drives, 1 optical drive, and everything else in the sig.

I think I'll go for the 700 GameXstream when they get more in stock.

Then you need a BETTER 550W. That doesn't mean that you need a power supply with a label on it boasting a higher wattage.

Quiz time: What's better? A Powmax Demon 580W or a Sytrin Nextherm 460W?

So is there a recommendation hidden in there ala DaVinci Code? This isn't going to involve me sleeping with Tom Hanks again? You pulled that on me last time!!!! :D

j/k I'm all ears for suggestions.

Try the Sytrin Nextherm 460w. It should be more than enough, much better than a shitty powmax, ass-fire, or deer.

A enermax libery 620? great.. not going to rma then, if you have had yours in for almost a month, glad I bought a replacement. (mine blew up)

Thermaltake isnt that bad, but ocz would yes, but a little better.

And when I upgrade to a crossfire system? Will that still be enough, or should I go for the OCZ Xstream for future-proofing?

If you upgrade to Crossfire, stick with what's on ATI's list for a pair of your cards. I know the guy that does the testing for ATI and the testing is real-life and hardcore.

can i ask you how long you used ur liberty 620 before it went?

i had mine ~2 months 24/7 usage and then one night i heard a loud POP.

i wouldnt mind a replacement unit - sort of come to like the unit but.....

JonnyGURU any chance of landing one of those TT 750w in ur LAB?

i like the 14cm FAN and it does have the bling factor over OCZ.

I'd love to. Maybe Tt Tech can help. ;)

I think if we hold him captive, with the 750 as a ransom, we might be able to. Of course, that would involve having him go to a 'businuess meeting', at which time, he jumps into a moving train, which isn't really a train, but is a car, and at the appropriate time, drives off, goes off a ramp, the ejector seat ejects, which gets tt tech into a helicopter, while the train, the car, and everything else below gets in a fiery death trap. TT tech would then be escorted to an undisclosed location somewhere in swahili.

Swahili!! Sounds like a good vacation spot from this cube!!!

SOMEONE HOLD ME
CAPTIVE!

God speed Krypto!!!

TT Tech! I'm in Taiwan! email jonny at jonnyguru.com!!!

Kryptonite - please let us know how it goes if you get it. I'm trying to decide between the TT and the OCZ. My current PcP&C 510 has left me spoiled but I have a feeling that when I add my new X1900xt (replacing a fizzled 7900gt) today I'm going to run into issues.

Lucky!
I wish I could go! But no, I'm stuck here, in my cube, wishing I was in Taiwan and eating the great food there....

Not to mention meeting the girls there at nightclubs...

Ok this is getting unprofessional.

I wouldn't mind that job TT Tech, sitting in a cubical and surfing [H] all day..

Ok I'm sure there's more to it, but I can dream, right?

What?!?! You're not one of the ARMY of guys and gals in the black shirts that are storming the halls of Comdex?

I think Thermaltake has more people here than anyone!!!

About how many hired black-shirt ultimate ninja urban warriors do they have?

Dozens. When they all get together to rest, all you see are a bunch of black and orange shirts.

I am getting the Thermaltake ToughPower 750watt PSU, I think I am the only one that trust them, I will let you know how good they are :D.

That's how detached Thermaltake USA is. :(

I wish I was there... I wish I was there... I wish I was there... I wish I was there... I wish I was there... I wish I was there... I wish I was there...

So, I do find time to entertain myself on Hardforum and nasioc. It's the only way out.

Only if u can translate 10 Chinese PRs to English PRs a day

Can do that

Debug / update our website

Easy

Brainstorm for advertisement campaigns

Use as many of the following words as possible: Cool, Silent, extreme, gaming, beautiful, design, flawless, and industry standard. So, it could be an Industry-stadnard extreme gaming cool silent heatsink, of flawless design.

Run sales training

Ok I can't do that :(

Run domestic road shows

Sure, no problem

Handle furious customers via phone & email

*please hold, someone will be with you shortly* *click*

Design packages from scratch (yes, industrial design)

Draw random squiggles in photoshop. Insert as much bling as possible.

and make less than a homeless.

Already do.

Sounds like a good job.

Anyways, back on topic: We (I) would love to obtain one of these badboys for professional testing (using it for personal gain) and would like it if you could help us with this (provide or end up in a river somewhere)

:D
