845 to 865 chipset upgrade without new CPU?

I have and old comp with an 845PT mobo and a P4 2.0ghz cpu. Can I upgrade the mobo to a 856PE chipset with need a new proc?
 
no you wouldn't need a new processor. I've done that exact upgrade for a few people, actually...low P4's on 845G's to 865PE boards.
 
Yup, you'll be fine, I run a 1.7 willy on the "free" soyo 865 board.
 
Mmm...dual channel memory.

Lol..."free" Soyo products. Probably from Tiger Direct. I have one of those too ;).
