I'm currently running a 3.2C w/ 1 GB at 200 FSB on an Asus P4PE-X. The problem is, that the board is non-SATA and I'd realy like to put in a Raptor as primary drive and move the current 160 GB clunker to a purely archiving function. I'm not ready yet to do the switch to PCIe, mainly due to a recently acquired 6800GT AGP. The question now is - what kind of a performance gain can I expect from a switch from a 845 to an 875 board (Asus fan, so most likely the P800 series)?
Any experience, or link to a comparison test?

I'd agree. I switched from an IT7-MAX2 up to the IC7-G and was very impressed. I went from a 2.4B to a 2.6C at the time. I'm a big fan of Abit, so I tend to only use their boards.

875P > 845*

I'd also recommend an Abit board over an Asus, simply because I've (STILL) been having bad luck with Asus lately. Make sure you get at least the IC7-G, because the vanilla IC7 doesn't come with integrated LAN :p

I Got a 875p Chipset board and it's awesome. I've never had a problem with the board. you'll love it !!!
