I never thought this would possibly work but decided to try it out

I have the upgraded Shuttle PC-50 300W PSU installed which is rated at 21.5A between the dual 12V rails - powering an X2 4200+ @2.4ghz, 8800GTS OC, 160GB raptor, 1Gb Kingston HyperX, X-Fi and an NEC DVD/RW drive.

The system boots right up just fine and chugs along with no issues under heavy loads from 3DMark05 / 06 and gaming with BF2142.

I did have to dremel away a small section of the rear side chasis frame and of course I used a window modded case cover that I had cut previously to fit a 7900GTX.

Now I'm seriously considering buying an SD32G2 Shuttle, so that I can use my C2D E6700 with the 8800GTS :D

That looks umm........ interesting but as long as it works and is functional who cares?? :D

Actually that's pretty cool. I've seen one similiar on these forums. Plus, with the hsf being outside the case, thats some nie cool fresh air and will be good for OCing and overall cooler temps.

Dworley, i told you it would work. :D Nice one! Mind showing a pic of the rear to see what you dremeled?

Cool looking and plus as said I bet it cools the card better as it sucks in outside air directly!

that looks fricking bad-ass dude.. nice job. I like it a lot. You have a killer little system there.

You should be able to make out where I cut away part of the aluminum frame from the side of the chasis for the heatsink to extend out

I know that the 8800gts takes up two pci slots so on the end of it, there is the metal PCI bracket attachment thing that also takes up two slots. what did you do to the metal part on the video card to make it fit?

thx

now cut out part of the front of the case and duct tape a second PSU to it so you can run an 8800GTX

good work on the 8800GTS, dworley

I had considered using that Thermaltake 250W bay PSU instead of my optical drive to power a GTX - but honestly that would be a bit overkill as the 8800GTS OC is close enough in performance and fits alot better in my systems. (I had two 8800GTX's that I eventually returned as all the games I have now are very playable on a single 8800GTS or my 7950GX2 @1280x768 on my Viewsonic N2750W)

Well, I decided to swap the old AMD SN21G5 Shuttle for a new C2D SD32G2 Shuttle chasis (I transferred faceplates and covers so that I now have a black SD32G5 ;))

This is definitely the most powerful Shuttle system I have ever built! I have been playing BF2142 on my new Gateway 24" monitor @1920x1200 with high details and 4XAA, 16XAF and my framerate averages above 50FPS during online games up to 48 players!

Here's my 3DMark scores with my C2D Xeon 3070 CPU overclocked to 3.0ghz and my 8800GTS Overclocked to 615/1900

3DMark05 score = 16787

3DMark06 Score = 10045
