939 A64 3400+ and free Biostar or ECS mobo $119.99

Biostars never let me down I've built 2 with Biostar mobos. ECS mobos I used to always have come into the shop cause they'de crap out. They even feel cheap.

Hmmmm , its getting harder and harder for me to resist good deals, i wonder to myself how good is this?

You gotta understand this is a great upgrade for someone not looking for the latest and greatest.

Ever notice how NewEgg's free mobo promos always include only the ugliest boards one can find?

Not saying appearance is everything, but it's definitely a factor for anybody who cares at all what the inside of their computer looks like.

It's decent at $120 it's not a monster deal, throw in $20 for a decent HSF and you're at $140 bucks.

For less than $20 more, You can put togethor an AM2 combo would kick this one's booty, come with a cpu fan, and a retail box with a better warranty.

But then you have to go buy DDR2 memory which adds at least $100-$150 to your deal x.o. Besides, I'd never touch anything PCChips.

Thanks for the deal op!

I don't find biostar or ECS to be any better than pc chips.

Sure this is a great deal if you've already got spare 3200 laying around, I totally agree with you there, BUT if you don't, why not just bump up for a couple more dollars. I

The DDR2 costing X amount more is pretty much moot, DDR2 can be had at around the same price as pc3200.

Patriot DDR 400: $119.99 (- $10 instant savings)= $109.99

That's the whole point. Socket939 goodness for those of us who have SocketA or slower socket478 systems running DDR3200. Its not meant for people building new systems.

Not for me at the moment, this P4 3.4 works fine for all I need, but if this had been available a couple months ago when I bought the 3.4 from ewiz for 100.00, you woulda seen me jump on this instead.

Too late now, though.

hmmmm
I picked up a 3800+ with ECS board from Fry's for $109 for my sister's computer.
Board had AGP and PCI-E..so far it's running fine.

and theres error in the listing.. the 3400+ is 2.2Ghz, not 2.4 as The egg states it...and on top of that, the cpu is OEM so prepare to dish out some money for a cooler. So i guess this deal semi warm but not really that hot.

I gotta put my plug in for Biostar. I've been impressed with their customer service. Not too long ago, I flashed my BIOS, and it went dead. After two emails, they sent me a new BIOS (the actual chip). I popped it in, and all has been peaches since.

What's the word on that 3400+ venice? 1600hmz HT bus instead of 2000? Any benches or reviews on this thing?

Wow, welcome to two years ago. LOL

Man, just surf the net. I'm sure you can find a bunch of reviews of Venice CPUs. They've been out nearly 2 years now.

Not of a Venice 3400+, 3200 yes, 3500 yes, 3400 practically nonexistant. The newegg reviews seem to say that the 1600 instead of 2000 HT bus cripples the thing, but I'm interesting in seeing how much and how it compares to the standard Venice chips.
